Thanks guys! You've all made me smile with your cute stories (and pictures!  bear_wub) and made me feel like I'm doing a good job with my boy cat! He does seem really happy, but his purring woke me up this morning so maybe I'll have to banish the scarf downstairs!

Tami - your westie is so cute!! My friend has one that she actually dyed purple! He curled up in a just washed new purple jumper and the dye came out on his fur!

Brena - Thumper is such a handsome cat! I love his stripes and he looks so warm and cuddly! I know what you mean about having to hide treats though, when we first moved here I put all Kaya's stuff in a cupboard in the kitchen and came home to find the house covered in catnip and the cat running around like a maniac! It's all in an old biscuit tin now so he can't get into it though!

Hey guys  bear_original  I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a strange but cute thing my cat's started doing.

He's about 6 years old now, and I've had him since he was a kitten, but we moved house about a year ago and he came too. Well anyway, I was getting my winter gear out and left a scarf on my bed which he started curling up on.. fair enough, it's soft. But the last few days he's started putting it in his mouth and 'paddy' pawing at it all the while purring and purring! It's so adorable but I was wondering if any of you cat people have experienced anything similar?

Also, he's a picture of my Kaya! (I'd love to see some of all your pets.. cats, dogs, rabbits etc.. I love them all!  bear_wub )

Thank you everyone for all the great tips! I made a head last night, turned it right way round and nearly cried! It looked like a ball of fluff! Now it's starting to look like Chewbacca from Star Wars.. but slowly it is taking form!  bear_grin

Karen, I would adore you forever if you would be so kind and generous as to do that! Of course I can pay postage and I would be so so greatful to you!  bear_wub By the way, your cats are so gorgeous! I wish I had that kind of talent!

It's fun to work with, but stressful and I have to admit I prefer mohair!  bear_rolleyes

Love to everyone!

Hey guys!

As I'm having to pinch the pennies I'm trying out faux fur instead of mohair. I've found a gorgeous piece in my local fabric store.. but it's now all over me, the rug, the carpet and the cat. Any tips? It's stressing me out and seems to be almost impossible to keep neat!!

Anything would be appreciated!

Hope everyone's okay bear_original

I meant to add this to my last post (sorry  bear_cry ) but this is my favourite tip! When I'm doing seams for joints, instead of leaving a gap I sew all the way around the foot / arm etc and then carefully make an incision (with a sharp blade) where the joint will be and turn the foot / arm etc out using this hole. You can then insert the joint and sew around it, making a hardly noticable seam because it'll be attached to the body!

It's not my tip originally, I'm not sure where I read it though so I hope you don't mind that I shared?

Hi guys! I'm new here, I've been going through the library and everything everyone's written and it seems like a really fantastic community and you guys are all so talented!  bear_thumb

I'm working on my fourth bear now, the second with my own 'pattern' (I'm doing my best but it's hard to start with!) but he's being made out of my scrap mohair and so is turning into a mismatched panda with a jumper on  bear_whistle

Anyway! My question is what joint sizes (cotter pins) should I order? Is there a specific sort of pattern, like a different size joint dependant on the size of your bear? The last one I made had the joints sent with it because I asked for joints for a 12inch bear and they have 35mm written on them, but I think this is the washer size?

So.. basically, what size washers, little metal washers and actual pins do you use?

I really hope someone can help because I'm stuck until I order new joints!

I will post some pictures soon!!
