..good point.  Non-smoking household here, although my husband and I are addicted to Extreme Moose Tracks ice cream.

We also have a doggy [Pomeranian], two kitties, a tarantula [but she's not allowed to crawl about in my craft room], two betta fish [used to be 3 but one died a few days ago = (  ]  and a baby, so if there are any pet dander allergic people, I prolly shouldn't swap with 'em.

Amelia

Oh my WORD!  Helena!  Those eyes just make one melt!  Absolutely utterly adorable!!!  I want, I want, I want!  Show me where to buy!  =P  When you're done tweaking the pattern.

Amelia

I would like to swap!  With a mini maker please---2"-5" please.  Am not entirely certain what accessories---ribbons, odds 'n ends, are we including fur pieces on this swap?

And with whichever mini artist I get to swap with, I want to make them a little felt fribbles friend of their choice to put with one of their teds.  w00t!

So much fun!

Amelia

He should be on TLC's What Not To Wear---as an example of what TO wear to all those hopelessly uncool fashioned challenged people!  He is awesome!  Love his look!

Amelia

fribblesltd

...utterly darling!!  I can't wait to see your next minis!

Amelia

fribblesltd

..I don't have paper lunch bags---would a ziplock baggie work?  Either quart or gallon size, I guess the two people swapping could figure out what size bag?  That way it'd be up to the individuals?  I know me being a mini bear maker, no way I'd need big amounts of anything, I love odds and ends.

Amelia

fribblesltd

Oooooooooh, Kim!!  I love his little winsome face!  Those eyebrows, and his coloring---he's a doll!  Love him, super duper cute!  And that's NOT an attempt, woman!  I should dig out my very first "mini" bear...and at 5 inches I've now realized it's a monster!

Amelia

...ooooh, am just seeing this..I really must save up pennies for one---but bears and fairies and bear materials keep my monies pretty liquid!!  i.e., here today, evaporated tomorrow!

Penny, holler if you want a pair of dress-up wings for her.  I'd love to design some and be able to brag that I made some for a gorgeous BJD like yours!

*waves*

Amelia

..I make little bears with wings, thusly I call 'em FaeryBearys---made sense to me, I thought it was cute, I didn't want to infringe on anyone else's names for their little teds or fairies, etc.

So, today I wanted to make sure my gallery photos on eBay looked nice on the search list [turns out I actually needed to crop 'em a bit more, but anyways] and I found this:

http://tinyurl.com/q2hlg  The seller's using the same words [not WORDING] in a couple of their auctions.

---it's a brand-new seller, and the spelling is a WEE bit different, but..I mean, DUDE!

I understand about people getting the same ideas around the same time on opposite sides of the world, that's understandable, and I don't think just 'cause I make a purple bear, or a bear with wings, or a band-aid bear, that means everyone who makes one after me is copying me..eek, that's be a huge complex!  Plus I know heaps of people have made those types of bears before me.

It's not like I have a huge ego, or following, or an ax to grind---but my feelings are hurt.   bear_cry   Am I just being a total wuss and a bit of an egotist, or does this happen alot?  *furrowing brow*

I would love to hear some feedback..   bear_sad

Amelia  *who is currently  bear_ermm   blah*

Oooh, that sounds like fun!!  I've lots of stuff, ribbons and etc., fun fun fun!  I could even make up a little materials bag of fairy wing material and a little sheet on how to make bear fairy wings.

Count me in!!

Amelia

fribblesltd

Jeannie, you know I love your kitties---adorable beyond belief!  Match for any real kitty, and no worries about claws in the furniture!

Amelia

fribblesltd

I'd like to see Cartman get past ME to eradicate this little guy!  [South Park fans, anyone?]

Charming fellow!

Amelia

fribblesltd

Oomph---it turned out a million times better than okay!!  Oh-so-cute, great expression on his face---you just know his lil' heart is broked until the train gets fixed!

I just wanted to thank Melissa for her warm words of encouragement about making tiny bears.  I took inspiration from her and made a smaller-by-1/2-inch-than-my-usual-size teddy, and I am so thrilled with my new pattern!  I intend on making lots more of these 2 1/2" little guys, and eventually try even smaller some day!!  w00t!

..new little bug-a-BOO!

BIG teddy bear hugz to Melissa!!!!!

Very best,

I'm working on a collaboration with a polymer clay artist for two of her "Fairy Blossoms".  We're going to spring 'em on the unsuspecting eBay market prolly the week after next...here's a link to her latest two:

http://intrepid-creations.com/fribblesltd.html

..I get to make two bears for 'em, and their wings and various packaging paraphenalia.  Am very excited about how they're going to turn out----we've got a wonderful seamstress who makes the most marvelous miniature costuming also in the project.

Amelia

fribblesltd

Kim, have you considered getting a rubber stamp printed up and imprinted the shrinky-dink while it's hot?

Here's a link to the technique I'm typing about:

http://www.luckysquirrel.com/projclintaglio.html

..and here're some photos of various shrink plastic jewelry---should show you the wide range of options, etc., that can be made with the shrink plastic:

I think I'm gonna try your little marking tags on my little guys!!  It's a very neat idea!

Amelia

..here's my embarassing story---

I was over in Great Falls, Montana, where there's an Air Force base and consequently a bigger variety of peoples than you normally see in the pretty much white bread redneck world of Montana---and I was helping my friend, a VERY good-looking black man [gorgeous body, totally ripped, fun fun fun!] plant some annuals in his front yard on the Air Force base.

He was very interested in me, wanted to date, etc., but I really lived too far away [to my mind].  His Corvette and motorcycle were nice though.  Anyways!

We were digging holes in the soil and talking of this and that, got onto the plants and he was telling me his sad story about all the plants that he planted dying very quickly, etc.---me asking questions about what sort of plants he had managed to kill: turns out he had killed off some very hardy species, and I burst out with,"Well, you just have a BLACK thumb!"

  IMMEDIATE horror-sticken silence ensued where he looked at me and I realized WHAT I had said---total tripping over of tongue as I apologized hastily and numerously!!!

I still feel so badly about it, and I'm not a racist or bigoted, etc.  I was just treating him exactly like I would any other person, and luckily he understood---laughed a whole lot at my discomfiture, in fact  =P---but I still want to put both my feet in my mouth and just keep on swallowing when I think of that time, which I will NEVER EVER forget.

Amelia

I got my very first wired arm bear done this last weekend, with lots of help from Amanda on needlesculpting eyes and how to go about the wiring.  SO helpful, I appreciate her time so much!

Here's a few shots of my little guy with his Fairy Blossom friend---these two are prototypes, look for the real thing on wBay soon!

hangtag.JPG

That's what my hangtags look like---and I have a big tag paper punch that I use to cut 'em out [which accounts for the white space at the top of the tag]:

Then I make a hole at the top, loop some yarn/ribbon through it and tie a bow and hey PRESTO!  A nice tag.

Oh, forgot to mention I sign and laminate it too.
