Awww...how could she not like her?  I love her, especially the pink nose!

Hi Sue, Vicki, Matilda and Jane,

Thank you all for your feedback on Quinn.  He was made for a Thread Artist Guild challenge and I decided to make his accessories in clay to be able to give his "jester" hat the right curvature and shape.  I'm happy both the hat and his jester scepter came out well.

Bella definitely looks very happy with her pony.  I don't blame her...the pony is quite cute too!

5-Way Jointed and only 1.75 Inches Tall Standing !
A Peachtree Cottage™ Micro Bear
by Mary Robinson - Peachtree Cottage ™ Bears

Quinn kindly allowed me to take pictures of him as he was dressed for the Masquerade Ball. This time Quinn decided to go as a Harlequin Court Jester. He has his jester hat, mask and Scepter made from polymer clay to match his costume.  His name is Quinn (pronounced "Cuwin") which means 'jokester' in bearese.

Quinn is a micro bear standing only 1.75 inches tall which makes him equivalent to about 18 inches on a 1:12 doll house scale.  His eyes are slightly shaded to give them added depth. His jester hat and mask are removable and made from polymer clay, as is his jester scepter.

Actually she's not knitted, though I have done some knitting of tiny bears....Rosa is crocheted.  I made her with some very fine acrylic threads (smaller than punch thread) and a size 14 steel hook.  The hat and dress are made from tatting threads.

Thanks for the compliments,

A tiny little bear with a big heart.  Rosa loves to dress up and today is wearing her favorite red and white dress, which has a pretty red heart on the bodice.  There is also a tiny little button in the back so she can take her dress off easily when she's ready to change outfits.  Her name is Rosa (pronounced "Row-sah") means 'beauty' in bearese.

Rosa stands at 1.75 inches tall which makes her equivalent to about 18 inches on a 1:12 doll house scale.  Her eyes are slightly shaded to give them added depth. Her hat and dress are removable and made from cotton tatting threads.

Rosa has already been sold before I could put an ad up for her.  She will be going to live in Norway.

One tip about turning with thread that I've learned works better for me is to take a somewhat strong thread, from the opening go down with the needle to the point that you need to turn, take a stitch from one side over a few of the material stitches to another spot, then come back up to the opening.  This leaves you with two tails of the thread to pull on instead of a knot at the stress point that you're trying to turn.  Pull on the thread ends and roll down while pulling and it usually turns well.  Finish off the turn with the end of a crochet hook (not the HOOK end) to smooth out the seam or turned area, then just pull out the turning thread and you're done :-)

I'll just add in a couple of comments to this thread too.  I have done a couple of collaborations (see pictures below) and they worked out rather nicely.  The bear was done by another artist (Marianne Alexander) and I did the detailed outfits.  I have just completed another outfit for her for another bear as well.

Here are pictures of the ones we have done so far.  As I said she did the bear and I did the clothing:

I find the collaborations fun and a nice break from the 'routine' and enjoy them quite a bit.

...but the fish are still swimming...well...they WERE swimming....

Little Natchiq is my newest needle felted creation. He is a tiny little seal ( only 1.25 inches tall and 3 inches long) who's been doing some fishing and he caught a big fish! He got a bit hungry though and has nibbled on some of it. Natchiq (pronounced "Gnat-chic") means 'seal' in Inuit (language of the Inuit people).

Natchiq is static posed (which means he does not have any movable parts) and has a lovely blue paua shell fish charm dangling form his mouth. I hope you all enjoy him.   He was made as part of my quest for Master Artisan with the Thread Artist Guild.

You did a great job for a first.  Minis aren't easy, but as some have said, they call out to ya :-)
