She's gorgeous I love her too. I'd also like to know if she's been adopted yet.
LOL you should not wish so hard to see a bear or a panther There have been a lot of panther sightings in Australia but scientists are now starting to think they're just really, really big feral cats.
Great stories love the finishing line about the woodchuck lol ~ it's great
AWWWWWW!!!! Love her! At puppy school my German Shepherd used to be best friends with a cavvy like her, they'd play together and my shepherd would give the cavvy a ride on his back (it was so cute, the cavvy draped across his back: front paws on one side back paws on the other).
How cute she is thank you for posting this it made me smile
Very cute
Love her!
Awww how nice what a lovely background story. Those kind of stories are what makes bears special. He's gorgeous.
GORGEOUS faces!!! So sweet!
She's gorgeous I love pink bears. I'm starting to realise every time someone shows me a new bear I say, "Oh I love_____bears" I have noticed I just love all bears
I say I love everything, because I do!
He's so gorgeous! I love the style of faces you achieve they're just gorgeous and so individual
I love bears with cafe names (if you've seen my site you can tell lol) love this one he's SOOOOO sweet! Love his little expression he's absolutely gorgeous ~ and once again what a great name
OK I am having trouble visualizing what the pattern looks like too, but being a flattie there aren't that many combinations of what it could be. So, if the head is 2 pieces with a seam up the middle of the head, then to attach ears you could do it the way you suggested, or you just cut a very small triangle the length of the ears into the pieces of the head about the middle, and sew the ears into that.
OR, if the head is two pieces with the seam running around the top and sides of the bear, then you don't have to cut any extra darts all you need to do is sew the ears into the seam where the two head pieces join together. This way is the simplest I sometimes use it on minis.
I don't think your pattern sounds like a 4 piece, but if it is then once again you don't have to cut any extra holes just sew the ears into the seams that already exist.
I have backstitched ears directly onto the head only once, as the ear was just one layer of ultra-suede and the fur was very dense and thick - so hard to see stitches. It could work for you, and of course if that's what you feel most comfortable doing then that is probably the best way to go. There's nothing good about sewing when you're scared of just what you're doing - so choose a method that you will feel comfortable with.
I hope this has helped and not made things more complex lol.
I always find my bears who've had their ears attached this way always have even ears ~ and it doesn't matter what fabric you use the ears look very even and nicely sewn-in. I really hope it works for you
Oh thank you I'm glad it made sense! Hopefully it will work and as I said wubbiebear, if it doesn't make sense to you I'll try & re-word it
I adore dragons ~ this one is so gorgeous!
Love him!
Maybe instead of sewing on ears after you have finished the head (as this is very intricate and I can't imagine trying it without seeing it) you could instead cut darts, little triangles, out of the side head pieces and while the bear is still in the wrong way, sew the ears into the seam of the dart/triangle, facing outwards which will be on the head when the bear is turned.
Still sew the two half circles together and leave the bottom open ~ attaching the ears into the dart/triangle means you don't have to ladder-stitch the base of the ear shut - which cuts out a lot of tedious work but still gives a good result.
Sewing on ears after the bear is done is what most of us do, but I have sewn ears into the darts for mink bears as it's horrible sewing anything onto mink on the outside using ladder-stitch.
Please let me know if that didn't make sense I'll try and re-word it..... I think sewing the ears into darts might be your best bet.
Sorry, can't help as I am not on FB. Someone will be able to help though
There is some gorgeous first bears here ~ I love them Mine was a jointed mini by another artist ~ I have not used another artist's pattern since. If I can get a pic up I will, but he is on my website too with my "manager" of the studio, my cat T2 lol. My first bear's name was Noah...... I think my pics are too big to upload.
Here's the link to my site ~ Noah is with my cat on the home page at the bottom.....

Very cute I adore Anime style! Gorgeous
Awww she's beautiful I love her!
Also Peter I like your signature ~ I love the world according to hug that bear is so cute.
I have only created two bears with flat feet and I did not use card. I used to plastic the first time, and then someone suggested wood but I did not sell the bear with wood in it's feet as if it got wet it would not be too good. I'm also unsure about the plastic but I did pad the edges of the plastic so not to tear into the feet or be sharp through the feet. I sold the bear to a collector who keeps her bears in a glass cabinet and rarely touches them so I believe he will be OK, but I'm still unsure what is the best material to put in the feet. I want to make my bears safe and durable as much as possible ~ so this post is very interesting to me. Thanks for asking the question it's been interesting reading the answers.
Awwww how cute is He!!!! Love him! I so want to own one of your bears one day!
I have not been here long at all but I'm part of other forums that shall remain nameless that are like a little community ~ they get posts all the time. This does not feel... I don't know, there aren't words but it's not quite the same. Please don't take this the wrong way though I'm still very happy to be here!
And I have been refusing to join FaceBook now for so long it's ridiculous.... I won't ever join there I don't like it as much, you don't get to know people the same (not that I'm on there so I don't really know).
I still don't think you should leave though if you've been here that long! There has to be a way to bring the forum back to the way you all remember it.
Also regarding big bears ~ I have made them too, but prefer smaller ones. I also like modern bears to make, but like to buy traditional style bears. The reason I make modern bears with a difference is that I have been so used to everyone doing things a certain way with so many endeavors I go on, and that there are ridiculous rules with no real point (of course there has to be rules but some seem a bit over the top) that when I came to bear making I wanted my bears to be DIFFERENT from everyone else's. I wanted mine to stand out and be totally fresh.
That is why mine are completely different, but I do still love big traditional bears ~ there is a place for all bears I believe.
There has to be a way to bring this place back to what you all seem to remember it being..... Or maybe it's just time for a change. To me there is so many members here that it can be a bit overwhelming and you don't get to know people that well. But I am VERY new and I'm willing to give this forum a try. I would like to help make it the way it was, too, if that is possible.
I'm still not sure how to post pics actually ~ which is why I don't have an avatar pic yet. I'm used to bringing my pics through photobucket but I can't find that option here. My pics are way too big to load straight into here so I take them through photobucket first..... How do you load pics here?
My mink bear is almost finished..... happy with him so far. I love your little duo, are you selling them?
He looks so huggable.... and really sweet! Such a gorgeous expression
