thanks for all the great responses!! i have a home page with text,,and i have meta tags..the site has been up quite awhile but a while back i bought a second domain name to "point" to the  same site,,and made it a group site,,when i checked out submiting to search engines myself all i could find was places to join their site and plans to pay for them to submit my site,,just wondered if any of them were free anymore!! will try the links that you all were kind enough to send!! big thanks ! deb

anybody have any experince with submiting sites to search engines? are they all services you have to pay for now> or is there a way still to submit them yourself?

Danni swet bears! and i agree with your statement! i am definately not as photogenic as Hayley in her long blonde locks! maybe i will try hididng behind snickers! and dilu i love the way your golli moves on the site! very clever  just figured out how my mouse overs worked this time around!!  hayley if i could figure out how to make pictures pop up the way yours do..i would! no one even knows what i asking!!   hugs deb

just had to jump in say hi as i am also from Vermont and have already made one new friend  here!  i live in Fairfax,,not that far from Stowe! dont recognize the NY addy but am going to look it up! and yes pictures!!  loved the discussion on coloring and the photos are lovely! deb

heather thanks for the input!  i dont know that i understand exactly whats confusing but i will give it some thought,,there isnt any store per say..its just a web site with  individual pages for each artist and my site on the end,, wanted a way for the vt artists to be showcased together,,we travel and show together sometimes  and most of us are friends,, hugs deb  canada's not sooo far from me! im 30  minutes from the border but i get lost from there!! :):)

i put a photo on mine after i updated this week..but its my wedding picture .. several pounds ago!!  my dh is the photogenic one..he looks terrific on film always smiling! [INVALID]  blue eyes!! me i look tired overweight  and smiling like that just makes it worse,,,i hated my pictures when i was young and cute!  hayley nice website and jazzy rags too! will somebody please critique mine?! i just re did it!!  deb

Rita i agree with all the prev comments..it DOES get better,, you are NOT too old!! my firts husband wanted a divorce after 6weeks of marriage( an old flame wanted him back) 6 weeks later she dumped him! again!  and cleaned him out besides,,then he said he would take me back if i was good,,,he cheated,,didnt work..put me down,,i blew a gasket and dumped him..the 2nd one was a great guy..but we werent happy together,,so after 10 yr i left him..i wasnt goingto get married again,,,made friends with people at work and one was an aa counselor,,i never drank but my family did,,we talked,,we became friends,,,better friends,,,then he fell in love and i was in a bad relationship at that point..he waited until i got my head staightened out an realized that the best thing that ever happened to me was standing right in front of me! we will be marrried for a total of 10 delightful years in nov,,i wouldnt have been the person i am if i hadnt been thru all that first,,he learned many things the hard way too..i beleive that things happen when they are meant to and you will get there!! and it will be sooooo much better!!! i dont believe you are doing anything wrong EXCEPT not loving YOURSELF!!  hang in there and talk to people about how you feel!! know we are all here to talk to and a big hug from me too!!! deb in vt

i am a great believer that sometimes when you NEED something its there if you  look for it!  like your email re affirming how cute your bears are! i was thinking one day i'll never have a shop way out here in the boonies and no space in the house etc,,and we stopped at a lawn sale in hootersvile,,,and this wonderful older lady showed us her shop in what was a storage shed ( or industrial crates?)  with charming small antiques and home made potpourri from her garden,,paintings she had done..i was enchanted with the place! would somebody please look at my website update and offer an opinion?  anybody have any ideas on how to increase sales on our own persoanl sites?   deb

shantell i agree with all the others ,,your bears are adorable!  i love the london quote about going after inspiration with a club!!:):):)) and deb maybe its the rain in the ne or the fact that im a book aholic,,but i am always up for a trip to barnes and noble!! meet ya there!! i get alot of my inspiration there to! and all thereally we;; know talented artists i am friends with,,have had bad bear days..are just as critical of their own work! and just as generous with everyones else's! my dh says im my own worst critic all the time! weather its silk flowers or bears or just me!!  i have just been beating myself up re doing my website,,anybody want to take a look? any input at all would be great!  hugs to all deb

i'd have to win the lottery to pay $1,700 fpr anything!  too cheap!  may have to go back to the drawing brd and refine my small pattern and get ruthless with the "antique" look on the bears i make! at least for me! i looked up all the links you were all kind enough to provide! very interesting! also combed our bookstore for books,,nothing..i thinjk th eonline class sounds the most promising...altho i couldn't use that link judi? page not available..deb

yes it can be stressful! i love this place with all my heart but its just too big and too much work..my dh has been struggling along with it,,but he deserves to have what he wants too,,, a single story with newer plumbing etc..we redid this place completely..just needs some cosmetic stuff we just dont have the time or money to do and still make the mortgage..so less money..more time..means i can make more bears and learn to needlefelt and stuff! i do have a website that im struggling to update,,spent alot of time on the other artists pages and left my site to last..plus i loveto do the artistic kind os stuff i dont completely know how to do..always learn stuff bacwards!!:):):) this working for a living stuff sucks!!  i want a vacation! we were marrried 10 years ago nov 17th and i will be 50 on the first of january,,,i want to be in lancaster pa  walking around Longwood gardens..flea mrketing..auctions!! we wemt to a big antiique show this afternoon and i held the most beautiful old stieff bear..$1,700!  oh well i can dream!!  hugs to all deb

oh dear  you girls are soo sweet and i feel like such a whiner! we are in the midst of a major life change ( i/e downsizing our beautiful old farmhouse) which we are finally showing again today,,and the darn windows on the north side started leaking this morning!  anyway i have a hr to make this all go away and have a shower before they get here!! auughh!! will post more later thank you thank you gfor making me feel welcome and specially to haley for the lovely comments!! deb

i will do that thanks! havent heard much in the past few days but the news says there is a big push bythe shiites to terrify the people,,numerous police murders and bombings aimed at citizens,,,160 killed in one day..derek mentioned the color of the euphrataes river the other day..so i know he is near there somewhere..
on a  bear topic..much more pleasant..the eyelids and eye sets you can buy seem to be plastic?... unless you make your own,,any body have a fav place to buy their eyes?  deb

gun blueing is the liquid they refinish gun stocks with..you should be able to get it any sporting goods department,,(or a husbands gun cleaning kit?) it will be darker like the gun metal gray you hear about..depends on the metal i suppose and how many coats?
my brother redid some gun stocks when we were kids and he just wiped it on and off..
may not be the color you want but i saw this tip in a refinishing antiques book..for using new hardware on old pieces,,and filed the info away in my head..there is a paste wax called Brie wax that is also used on wood,,,comes in several shades of brown,,and you can refinish metal with it..rub it on..let it dry and buff..would have more of a brown tone..hope its what you had in mind!   deb

thank you all for the kind words..Derek is my stepsons name..they are stationed somewhere west of baghdad..not exactly a secret with the news and all,, he personally was not hurt..he is usually the driver..he was assigned elswhere yesterday so did not go with his regular crew..no fatalities thank god..but scared them all..the replacement driver took some minor shrapnel and had  a concussion. there should be more bears in the world and less politicians and bad guys anywhere!  hugs deb

thanks i'll do that.  i am only online twice a day and then usually for about an hr or so..so i havent followed all the threads in this forum..not enough hours in my day! say a few thank you prayers along with me on an unrealted topic please...my stepson is in iraq and the email we just opened said he didnt go on his regular mission last night and the hummvee he usually drives was hit by a roadside bomb..no fatalities but the driver got hurt..im going to go thorw up i think,, sorry just needed to  whimper a minute,,   deb

can i ask if all the eyes with lids..the really neat ones you girls have that look sooo real ..are glass? and where do you get them? i have some very pretty specialty eyes..can i use those and make the lids? and the felt on/around  eyes i dont understand!  thanks deb  really want to try upgrading my techniques with eyes!! and you  all do such lovely ones!
