I just canceled an auction I had listed because there is a protest going on, it ends the 14 th or 16th I believe, they are asking everyone to send a message to ebay about the new private bidder system by not listing or buying during this time, I will go one better I will not shop there at all while the system is in place and I will only list with a BIN of 199.00 so none of my auctions will go into a private listing, my family is not dependent on my ebay sales and if this will help change this system I will do all that I can.  I also plan to sign up on the bid4bears site. I am tired of shill bidders and systems that protect them.

Roxanne what a great thread, I am going to post an empty form so it will be easy to do and I hope everyone does it, again what a great idea.

Dana it is so great, you did such a wonderful job, you are a really good bearmaker!!!!!!!!!  And what a cute girl you are, and so talented.  I can't wait to see your next bear, one day if you keep at it, I can say, when you win your first Toby, "Hey I saw Dana's first bear!"  The brown bear reminds me of Garfields bear Pookie. I love the pink paw pads and pink ears, I love putting pink and brown together, they really compliment each other.

I agree Bobbie, the fee for listing it at more, costs more, not sure why that is , it seems like the person who does list it at a set beginng price is being charged more for the same item.
example:
I list item with an opening bid of 1.00 I get charged .35 cents
but if I do this:
I list a bear starting price 250.00  they then charge you 3.60 just to list it with that opening bid.
Now that amount isn't as much as I thought it would be,  but say you list 1 bear every week, thats 187.20 a year more you have paid, which I would rather have that money in my pocket then have ebay have it, but bottom line why does it cost more to do that???????????
This is why I list it with an opening bid of 1.00 and no reserve. sometimes I get burned with no reserve, I sold a mouse house that cost 60 dollars to list and make for 80 , but on the flip side I have sold a bear for 675.00 that I thought would have gone for 200.00.

Hi Sarah, this is a picture of my niece and 10 year old son dressed up for the fairy event , it goes on for 3 days and it is so magical, the grounds that it is on, are beautiful and they do a wonderful job making it look magical, my son did not want to dress up I had to bribe him, sometimes it stinks not to have girls My husband got eye strain from rolling his eyes at me, when I was selling the idea of dressing up to my son, but once he got there he had a great time. My nieces were here from florida, the 13 year old was so excited, I tried to talk the 16 yr old into doing it but she was "too cool" to ever do it, but once she got there and everyone was taking her sisters picture she kept telling me, if we come back when this is on again could I make her a costume. Ahhhhh magical things really did happen there

There are even older women who dress up , I want to be a fairy!!!!!

Thank you for the kind words about Paddington and my baby bears, I like Winnie the Pooh, the original one from the books,but  I Love Paddington more, for some reason.

If you can't get one let me know and I will try to pick you up one and  send it to you. I would imagine the newstands would have it included in their magazine, I have an area store that carries the magazine I will keep an eye out for it.

Bobbie I know what you are saying about the instant facelift, I do the same thing since I have gotten a little too fluffy, in all the pictures I look like I am looking at the sky because as I get fatter I have to look up higher.   

Sarah I am in love with your fairy bears , I love fairies and everything that goes with them and your bears really capture the spirit of the fairy. Really great job!!!!!!! And all the colors are so cool.  In our town we have a luminary thing at a big old mansion and through the woods it looks magical and they encourage all the little girls to dress like fairies and even the older girls do it too. It is my favorite day of the summer.  Thanks so much for bringing up that warm summer evening memory on this really bitter cold Indiana day.

Janet, I just checked ebay and you are still a registered ebayer, this was a scam attempt to get you to log in so they can get your password, go right now, change your password and report this to ebay, I have had the same thing when they say "you have won this shirt" Man I hate this people who does this!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, I think they can block the contact feature or modify it  so that you have to register ebay with a credit card, like sellers have to, before you can contact another member, buyers don't have to provide proof that they are real people and I think that is where the fake second chance offer come from.

I agree with what you said about the picture thing,   I stand there lookin good and the mean lady behind the counter keeps changing it to an old woman.  :photo:      I think she has it out for me.

Oh and I think I already told you this, but I don't want to go without saying, I am so happy for you with all the award nods I swear you have reached the zen of bearmaking , your work has always been beautiful, but holy cow, they now look not of this world, but made by made by the bear gods!!!!!!!!

Nancy I saw that same story, when ebay went to this new system, I thought boy they are really dumb to go more private after this kind of story.  No if's and's or but's they make more money when the general public cannot monitor their business practices.    I think they are courting a major lawsuit, and that really is such a shame because ebay was and can again, be a wonderful place to make a living.

Penny do not deprive ebay collectors of your wonderful cats, I am encouraging everyone to write ebay and complain about the new system.  But please list your beautiful work, I love looking at it. And by the way your post cracked me up you peacenick you! :crackup:

My son and I love Paddington, and loved the movie, that was so sweet to share it.

here is the paddington I made, he now lives in Japan and he is about what the book showed as his size.  I made a smaller version for my son, because he didn't realize I was going to sell him and he cried when I was boxing him up

That is why my weight went to 101

I am off to the movies and I plan to eat greasy buttery fattening popcorn :dance:

Oh and another thing I hate, is when you go to get your drivers license re-newed and the person asks you if all the info on it is still the same, you say yes and then they look at it and linger on the weight part, OK so I have not changed it since I was in high school and weighed 100 lbs, and yes my weight has got up a little, OK OK A LOT, the sad thing is if I ever get in a wreck they will look at the ID and go "boy there must be someone else hurt because this ID is for a little bit of a thing, I don't know who this fat whale is that's hurt" Ok I decided I didn't want to go nameless, I reluctantly told her "Oh yeah my weight has changed,.......I weigh 101 .

Bobbie Tell me about it, one of my very first bears , some lady resold it , she didn't take very good pictures of it, you could hardly see it , I cringed when I saw it and it tanked, I felt really bad it didn't do better for her, now I tell bidders that I completely understand that if they do want to sell it, please email me and I will send a disk with good pictures on it.
I am so glad I am not the only one who hates the new system

Maybe I am thick and you all have answered me, but how do you all feel about ebays new private system, if you like it, give me reason to like it, because as I said, I hate it, am I alone on this?????? I don't want it and not sure if there is anything I can do.

Tami I agree I think the example you bring up had no bad intention,  and I do not ever think ebay would go after that. As I said before I think everybody wants return customers.  Their intention was honest .
And Dilu  that was an honest mistake, again I do not think it  falls under what ebay looks for.
