You can use any kind of boxes and stack and cover them with a cloth so that you have some height to your display. I use plastic shoe boxes and stack them and cover with a cover and they work well as they all fit together for storage later. Here is a picture of the display without the cloth so that you can see how I stack the boxes. Hope this helps you a little bit.
So, so glad to see the post from you. We have missed you on here and facebook. Life can sometimes deal up a bad time but with friends and loved ones, it makes the day a little brighter. Hope you continue to get better and we see your smiling face posting again.
Super hugs.
Not a problem. We will get you some friends.
Congrats on your new Janome. I have had two of the Janomes but this last time I bought a Brothers. I have had a Brothers basic machine for years and love it so this time I bought the Sewing/Embroidering machine. Love the machine. It threads the needle, cuts the thread at the end and yes I can use the foot pedal or the button on the front of the machine to run it.
Fab-u-lous!!!
Hi Cindy, I don't know you because I have only been on TT for about 4 years but I do welcome you back to bear making. I would post your bear in Daphne's FB site, and then if you want to open a free store, facebook has that now too. I opened one and then have kind of neglected it so don't know how it is working out.
The website host that I use is cheap $9.99 a month and they have hundreds of templates or you can design your own. I am not very techy so I took one of theirs but I will be changing it when I get some time to spend on the computer. The site is easy to work with and the guy runs it out of his home so you can get ahold of him most anytime with questions. He is a techy and has designed the whole system.
Good luck with getting back into bear making, it is so much fun.
I am not sure what "aLive" eyes are but I make child safe bears and use the plastic eyes that is an eye and a white push on back. Some of them are very hard to get on so what I do is put it over the hole in a spool of thread and push down with my hands. It is hard to explain but the order of the pieces are eye, fur, safety back and spool on table and push down. The hole in the spool should be big enough that the post on the eye part going down into the hole and the pressure from your hands should be enough for it to work.
Happy Birthday to you and everyone else in your family. You do have a busy, busy month. Good luck in getting all those bears done too.
Great pictures and beautiful children. Love those ringlets.
Cute little guy and love the shadow box idea.
Thanks, I will check that out. When I started this quest, I thought I could dye sherpa but being a synthetic it came out grey and would work for granny dolls. Maybe I will design a granny doll one of these days.
soooooooo sweet
I have never tried in on a bear but some of the dolls I do have side seams and an added pieces on the front for the foot. It is basically a crescent shape and then the foot pad is put on.
All you people are so nice to send mohair to these nice ladies.
I have a question and maybe someone can help me. I have a niece who had adopted a little girl from Ethiopia and she has been looking for a brown doll. Now I have come up with a doll but I am having problems trying to find some afro looking fur for the hair. Does anyone have a small piece they could send to try? It can be mohair or faux fur. The little girl just turned 2 so it has to be able to be played with. If I can find enough of this type of fur, I will be making several of the dolls for her friends.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Congrats! That is so neat!
Such an adorable bear and monkey. You have truly captured the essence of Pippi.
Try www.imstuffedfur.com and email Beverly and see if she can find it. I have had her find faux furs for me that I couldn't find anywhere else. She has some furs that are not on the website.
He is so sweet.
Congrats on the pair, they are really precious.
Our only bookstore doesn't carry the magazine anymore Would love to see the dragons.
He is a cutie and love the bug.
I tried rice once for stuffing when I ran out of beads and money. It seems to be okay as it was put in a plastic bag first. I never thought of the plastic pellets for BB guns. Might look for those as no one around here sells the plastic beads anymore.
Lenora, massive prayers coming your way for Roger.
Thanks, Joanne for this. I didn't know that FaceBook did that and I will have to look into it. I would not give up on my website because I have too many different things to sell. My new website, which I have only had a few months is great and I am getting more traffic than even on it. It only costs me $9.99 a month and I can update it easily. Not like the old one that I had to have the webmaster do changes.
My blog has few friends and I know it is because I don't update it enough. I spend so much time of the computer now with social networks that I never get to the blog. Sales from all the social networks works for me because more people see my work and will then go to the website to buy.
Cloth dolls are fun and I design a new one every year and show them at craft shows. To be honest, my dolls sell better than the bears in the area where I live. You will have fun making dolls.
