Hey Brenda,
That is so scarry I'm glad it was only the tree and not you.  Strang thing is we got nothing here, and I'm about 15-20 minutes form you depends on how fast I drive bear_grin .  There was a tornado warning for our area yesterday maybe you got the tail end of one.  It got a bit dark and I heard thunder of in the distance but not a drop of rain.  We have been having some wicked stroms though haven't we, freaky kind of summer so far.
Glad your okay

Thanks guys I was sooo worried about this group not measuring up to all the wonderful entries so your kind words have but my mind at ease. bear_smile

SarahJane- The TAB is the "Teddy Bear Artists Invitational "show held in New York, The gallery piece is auctioned off to help raise money for the Ross Park Zoo.  All artists must submit a piece and each year there is a new theme.
This is my first time attending this show and from what I hear it is spectacular and draws quite the crowed.  I'm thrilled to have been invited and scared as all heck at the same time. There are a few TTers attending this show so it will be fun getting to meet these wonderful artists in the fur.

Gail- I have attend the Xmas TBOV show a couple of years back I think it was 2004, I was beside the Bear Guys.  I had a wonderful time but as far as sales it was not worth it for me ( sold a whopping 2 bears) so I never went back.  I have done Mark's shows in Ottawa for years but this year have chosen to do the TBAI and I can only manage one show a year. So I have been around I just seem to blend in with the woodwork  Not sure how because I'm not shy and can get kind of silly at times you usually hear me before you see me

thegang.jpgHey Beary Pals,
Yahoo    I finally finished up my gallery piece for the TBAI show, Okay it's not completely done I still have the paper mache book to do but all the stuffies are done.  I had to call in the troops for this one since my creativity stops at the bears ( fellow TTer, Brenda) came to the rescue, created all the cloths for Nate, aren't they fabulous.  Big Hugs to you Brenda, I couldn't have done it without your help.   The theme was Salute to Sleuths and my sleuth is" Nate the Great" I made up the title "Nate the Great and the Missing Teddy" or at least I think I made it up never checked to see if it is a real book. This way I was able to incorperate both styles of bear that I do cutsie and antique style.   Anyway I'm so relieved that these three (Nate, his dog Sludge and lost teddy) are done, now I can concentrate on getting more bears for my table.

Hi All,
thanks so much for all your generous comments, I think I will have a hard time saying good bye to this fella I kind of like him, very unusual for me to like my own guys.

Sandi- This is a tipped mohair I purchased from Beary Cheap long time ago it is not a true string more a sparse kinda stringy, if that makes any sense.  Of course I threw out the tag so I don't know the number wish I had kept it cause I do like it.

Debora (great name by the way  ) I did a smaller version of this bear with thumbs long time ago and thought they were neato so I inlarged the pattern and did this fellow.  His arms are wired too so he can do many poses even pick his nose if the urge comes over him

Danni- No air brush just good old fashioned regular brush, I do have an air brush even took a course but I'm to scared to try it on the mohair.  One of these days I'll take it out of the box and give it a whirl.  I have always justed dry brushed and so far have like the results but I did spend $$$$ on the airbrush so I guess I should try it.

My daughter is 17 and has been drawing ever since she was old enough to hold a pencil in her hand or crayon what ever was handy.  This was just a quick drawing,  mom is only worth about 30 minutes of her precious time.  When she actually spends quality time on her stuff it is amazing.  If she dosen't have her sketch book or journal in her hand there is something really wrong, I don't think I have seen her without them more than a couple of times and that was when she was very sick.

Thanks again guys you have all made my day  bear_flower

fuzzybear.jpgHey Beary Pals,
This fella I called Zippy Do-Dah. It has been quite some time since I have done a bear with a plucked face, forgot how long it takes to get all those pesky hairs out.  No wonder I don't do many of these guys, but when I look at him it was well worth the effort cause I think he is rather cute.  I think I'll do more of this style.

I thought I would add my Daughters drawing I guess this is how she sees me, mom in her beary patch.KorasDrawingForMom.jpg

Thanks Paula and Ranae, I think my boys are quite spectacular for old barn yard ponies. Been retired from the race track and show circuit for years, now it's just lounging around and going on the odd trail ride.  My barn is a work in progress my hubby and I started to build it about 3 years ago and we're still at it.  Just need the back door, I tack up a old piece of plywood every time it rains. Slims window needs to be put in (same thing with the window old plywood gets tack up) and the batten needs to be added on the outside then of course it's just maintenance after that. I'm just happy to have somewhere to put these guys when the weather turns nasty and the bugs get unbearable, they don't seem to mind that the place isn't the ritz they like it just fine the way it is.  I love the sight of all my hay stacked to the rafters gives me warm fuzzy all over because I don't have to do that for another year  I hate doing hay  I'm still picking it out of places hay has no business seeing let alone taking up residence

Hi Beary Pals,
My good news was getting a phone call I have anxiously been waiting for.  My hay dealer (sounds torrid) called to let me know know he has done his first hay cut and my two wagons are ready to be picked up.  Dosen't sound to exciting but for a horsy person this is wonderful news.  My poor horses have been without hay for 3 weeks, found my last run of hay bales moldy and infested with worm thingys had to toss 65 bales out.  Leaving my boys hayless, and for a horse this is not a good thing.  Been scraping by with hand outs and very $$$$ hay cubes.  So new fresh hay is like finding gold in them there hills.  And it gets better, my hubby surprized me by hiring his work crew to come and help us stock to barn, I only get 400 bales of hay but when your and old broad like me stacking 400 feels like 4000 with every one getting heaver as you go.  Yahoo!!! Me and the boys are set for another year. hay.jpg Here Slim is dining on his first course of new hay.slim.jpg Clancy just being Clancyclancy.jpg The boys all tucked in for the night snack hay nets hung just so everything is okie doki, night night my angels.in.jpg
I'm one happy horse gal

Hey Beary Pals,
I have a big request apparently one of my bears has made the cover of the UK magazine Teddy Bear Scene! YAHOO  and here in Canada we seem to be months behind with the British mags.  So far I haven't been able to nab one and I'm so excited I can't wait till hell freezes over, that's about the time the mag will land on our shelves.  SOOOOO if any one out there is willing to pick up a few copies (3-4) I would really, really appreciated it  .  I can pay for them via paypal or with a money order or in mohair bear_grin blood what ever works for you  I think it is the june Issue it has this Bearhaven Bear on the cover for the give away.  Hoping bear_cry  someone out there will take pity on me and lend a helping paw.

Thanks so much guys

READ!!!! what the heck is that? AHHHHHH yes I remember now,it's coming back to me like a dream long ago forgotten. It has been so long since I allowed myself to enjoy such a guilty pleasure.  Now all I seem to have time for is tiny snippets in the form of magazine articles, okay I'll confess and a few chapters from my self help books. I know you all thought I was perfect  what? a bear maker that needs help? never meet one of those.

So at the moment I'm in intense therapy with PH.D Harville Hendrix and he is helping me with "Receiving Love-Transform Your Relationship by Letting Yourself be Loved" Yah right like I'm ever going to do that!!!!

When I get tired of Hendrix telling me I'm wonderful and I deserve love in my life. I move on to my Alternative Medicine mag find out all the stuff I need to worry about so I can go find me a new self help book, it's a vicious cycle.   For fun I'm reading "For Her Own Good" Two Centuries of the "Experts" Advice to Women.
Did you know that Higher education in Women was a threat to the long term health of the Uterus? Who knew  This book is very interesting a wee bit scarry too, shows just how far things have come for us Women. Well there you have it my secret is out I'm not perfect and I have a strange taste in reading material.

Hey bear pals,
I thought I better jump back in a clarify my requests for swap, I stated no fur.  I don't mind pet hair cause if you swap with me your guaranteed to get some of that yourself.  My pets love to try and help with the packing up of items.  What I meant with no fur was no dead animal skins. Sorry if this sound harsh don't mean to offend anyone and I sure the heck have no problems with others using this material just not right for me. As for doo hickies got tons of those bear_grin

Awww thanks guys, Yup he looks innocent but this is one naughty dude under that silly hat.  Four legs I ruined making this guy only to end up using the very first one I started with, fingers got poked so many times thread kept getting caught in the calluses, knotting my thread up. Seemed like every stitch snagged.  Even his vintage glass buttons had to be sewn on a gazillion times, urggggggg I burst into  bear_cry out of frustration and I don't cry.  I think this poor fella has heard every curse word in the history of curse words, been called them all and he still came out smiling, bear_grin  ohhh don't get me started on how many times I had to do his mouth. I can't beleive I didn't toss him I guess I knew he was ment to be, and I'm gald I stuck to it cause I do like him now that he is done. dakota.jpg
Kinda reminds me of this gal she is one heck of a challange, but gotta love that face.

Still not much coming out of the Bearhaven Bear den and only a few more months left before the TBAI show, nothing like working under pressure.  This little fella (5 1/2 inches) is lucky to be here.  Stinker gave me the time of my life and not in a good way, but I'm glad I stuck with him because I really like how he ended up, finished  bear_grin Anyway hope you enjoy looking at him.

So young and sooo talented.  Your bears are funky and fun, I love all the bright colours they bring a smile to my face. I think you must be telapathic because your company name discribes my tum tum to a tee  and we have never meet in the flesh. Dear Kassie,
I'm so sorry to hear about your trouble, you are a very brave soul I'm sure it wasn't an easy thing to write that post.  Taking a stand and not letting yourself be a victim can be one of the hardest things to do, been there done that.  Hold your head up high girly you done good!!! The only way to deal with bullies is to stare the buggers in the face and let them know you aren't going to lay down and be a door matt so they can walk all over ya with their stinkin dirty lousy selves, because that is what they truly believe about themselves. Anyone who feels good about who they are wouldn't treat another like garbage. I'm rooten for ya girl    Deborah Bearhaven Bears
