Maybe I've got my mind mixed up.... but did someone say you could needlefelt on a foam base? I don't mean the one you lean on so you don't stab yourself in the leg, but one that would make up the basic shape (like the stomach) and then you'd cover it in wool?

I'm not sure if that would even work - not that I've tried it.

Otherwise what do people usually use for the 'filling' of their larger needlefelting pieces? Or is it all wool through and through?

Wonderful work! He's so cute! And very inspiring.

Jack_TeddyTalk2.jpgJack_TeddyTalk1.jpgI've been wanting to try my hand at cosplay bears and what's cuter than Jack Sparrow? Besides the real one of course.  bear_tongue

Started way back in June but it had to be put on hold due to work commitments. Then ran out of fur for his legs, ordered more and found out it was a discontinued colour, so I made him boots instead. Only just managed to finish him. I can't take credit for the bear pattern (not my own design although I editted it slightly because of the boots) but everything else, apart from the belt buckle and individual beads, was either made or put together by me.

So long as he's recognisable and a cute-looking bear, then I'm satisfied.
I hope the photos aren't too dark. Was going for a treasure-cave sort of look....

Kim-TeddyTalk2.jpgKim-TeddyTalk1.jpgThis little one was made as a gift for my cousin's 21st birthday, hence the charm around her neck. And as soon as I put the tiny necklace on I knew she'd be quite the little princess! So I just had to take one photo with a 'ring' tiara. bear_innocent

Although I must admit she does have a rather woodland-critter sort of face. It's hard to describe. ^_^;; Kinda chubby. Ah well, still pleased with her.

She was made from the first pattern I designed myself.

Details
4" standing
Faux fur and leather paw pads
Black beaded eyes
