Thanks guys bear_original This guy is definitely a "make again" pattern... but next time hopefully all kinks will be worked out! bear_original

Little_Bearries

Oh, she looks very sad... she needs more of her kind, stat!

Little_Bearries

bat9.jpgbat1.jpgbat7.jpgThis little guy is very, very pumpkin colored!

Made from Orange, hand dyed wool felt, his wings are poseable and his feet grip for upside-down fun!

His head is also jointed :)

He's my own pattern!

I am a huge fan of Etsy... of course, it helps too if you have a blog with a following, that you can post on about upcoming etsy sales (I do not... but I've noticed this trend among top selling artists!!!)

Little_Bearries

I just add people I like and think are interesting or helpful, or who I admire... they've already put themselves out there for everyone to see... if they didn't want people to look, they shouldn't have a public blog!

Besides, I always figure, very few people get upset when you direct other people to them by saying "Hey, I *really* like what this person is doing! Go check it out!"

Little_Bearries

@nimbleknot  I'll be sad to see your blog go!!! It's just not a blogspot blog so I don't get to check it daily!!!! You should look into blogspot though (www.blogger.com) it's totally free... and your creations are too cute not to have a place to talk about them!!!!!

Also, I have a bear related blog (I talk about other crafts too... but it's main purpose is for bears)

OMG, ADORABLE!!!! I LOVE HIM, and I love that suitcase!

Little_Bearries

I work full time too, and while I don't have a husband, at the moment I have a boyfriend who is pretty time demanding.

I actually have a bag that is meant to be a bathroom travel tote, with tons of little compartments, that I carry around.
It works wonders... and until I get a bigger place, it will have to be my studio.

Little_Bearries

What an absolute cutie!

She looks SO fluffy and soft!

Little_Bearries

I would like to take part! I sent in my email... but forgot to post here!

Let me know if you got my info, if not, I'll resend it! :)

pumpkinbear7.jpgHere is another new pattern from me... and this time I gave needle felting a muzzle a try.

I LOVED doing it!

She is made of faux fur with suede pads and inner ears (the suede has some sort of strange texture on it... I think to make it look antique-ish) Her arms have coated wire in them so they are poseable and she has cotter pin joints.
I coated her nose with gloss and I LOVE the way it turned out... the feel, the texture, the look...

Anyhow, this is the second bear I've made from a pattern I designed... so the fact that it works at all makes me pretty happy!

Thanks for looking!!!

Little_Bearries

A Van Gogh bear would have to have a lot of texture too... have you ever seen one of his paintings in person? The paint comes several inches off the canvas!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Picasso Bear!!!!!!!

I love all the creations in this challenge! These are so much fun!

Little_Bearries

UNACCEPTABLE! Ah well... time to get the ice scraper out of the trunk. Michigan weather isn't usually too far behind Colorado's.

Little_Bearries

hahaha, trouble, trouble, trouble! I love how in almost every pic she has something... a feather, a mysterious wad of white... oh yes... puppy thievery!

Little_Bearries

WOW, I LOVE the color! (the bear himself is cute as heck too... but the color...  bear_wub  )

Little_Bearries

Oh yay! A bear blog I'd missed!!!

My blog is:

I added you though! I love your Christmas present to yourself!!!

Little_Bearries

Oh how adorable! I absolutely love your little guys!!!!

So those who took classes like this, how would a true novice fair in a class like this?

First and foremost... don't think you'll be going in as the least experienced one!
You start at the beginning when it comes to classes, and that means everyone else is doing the same thing!!!
I think you'll be shocked at how many people in your class will be novices with no more than an interest in drawing... some of them aren't even there for that, but for an easy credit.

Did formal training help with your creating bears?

I think drawing helps a ton, being able to visualize what you want to create, then sketch it out... and then turn that sketch into a pattern... immensely helpful.

Is it worth it?

I think anything that forces you to get out there and use your creative juices is worth it... I think we tend not to realize it sometimes, but our creativity stagnates when it's not used... keep it moving, keep it fresh!

Should I take the plunge and take classes?

If you have the money to spend, I would say yes. (I forgot to elaborate on this part... if the class fee doesn't include it, you can usually count on spending another $50-200 (at least) in art supplies)

What would I learn if I took several classes from this school?

Depends, what are the course descriptions for the classes you are considering taking?

Also, what other classes would you recommend to help me grow in my creativity?

Maybe a photography class... those really make you look at the world differently.

Little_Bearries

Thanks guys :)

I'm not too worried if people don't stick around... it's very fun to have people watching your blog... but I'm mainly there to keep record of what I'm doing, and to look at all the other lovely and helpful blogs...

I just thought a give-away would be fun!

Little_Bearries

I was wondering if anyone here has done a blog free give-away?

Was it all fun and games? Were some things a big hassle?

I've just started making bears... so I'm not really even sure someone would be interested in a bear I made... but I *love* giving stuff to people, and I thought  it could be fun... but I would love to hear experiences others have had with this sort of thing!

Thank you!
Heather

(oh, ps, mine would be a pre-made bear, there is no way I would try to field requests at my level!!! I'm just not ready for that sort of thing yet)
