Ohh, love your anime style, and especially Kitty is so cute! Thanks for sharing your work---can't wait to see more from you!
Amelia
I would!! Can we accessorize with a mini friend? 'stead of finishing off the bear? I've never tried anything above 5", so working on a bigger bear wouldn't really be something I'd be trying with a round robin sort of thing [might bugger it up!], plus I don't have any material or eyes or nose or anything that's suitable for a big bear..
However, I did get a piece of mohair from Jane that I hope to take with me to Washington for Christmas and mayhap get a BIG bear made [over 9"]!!
A tatty teddy would be fun to change, since they're so cute anyways! Would love to see Judi airbrush one!
Amelia
..Mine take approximately 5-6+ hours to create, sometimes longer---depends on if I'm trying new techniques and a new design, or if they are being obstinate! =)
Amelia
Oh my gosh---I got all teary looking at how cute they are---what a marvelous example of a mother's love for her baby and a baby's trust in his mommy. Dilu, they are so special---lucky Stephanie!! Absolute darling pair, just adorable!!
Amelia
YAY for Dilu and GOLLIES!!! Big congratulations, Dilu, am thrilled for you!! And I LOVE Allison! She is darling, especially those outstretched fingers!!
Amelia
..it's not this person, right?
..those're really sweet bears..
Amelia
Gemma, I just found it. I totally spaced checking that email address, I am so sorry! Are you planning to list within the next 3 hours? I can get it done within the next two, have to make the trip home first though.
*waves*
Best,
Amelia
P.S. - if you have little to no knowledge of HTML, this instruction sheet the seller sold you is worse than useless...it's worthless! Lovely auction template though.
Gemma, most template sellers include instructions for editing the template. I know I do with mine. If you email me the template, I would be happy to decode it for you and give you my template instructions [I color code the template components so that you know how to edit it]. I shall be at work in an hour, so I have to get ready to go now [dressed, drive in, etc.], but I can have it done fairly quickly for you.
Hope I can help!

..okay..I thought I bookmarked it but! of course I can't find it in my hundreds of bookmarks!!
It's got awards---costs $45 [last time I checked] to join, and Angela J. of whimsymoon just won the non-teddy bear category..
[furrowing brows in puzzlement]
Help!! Any and all suggestions welcome!
Amelia
Hi, Jane! I'll PM you. I'm just getting to the point where I wanna try a bigger bear.

..I just bought my first sets of clear eyes from Intercal to try this technique out on---they sent my package out to me super fast, and I love the little eyes. Am so looking forward to painting on the nail polish...I can't WAIT!!!
Amelia
*LOL* Kim, DPI is a name I play online RPGs under---in my case it stands for,"DepthPerceptionImpaired,"---but in your case, like everyone has said, it stands for Dots Per Inch. You can usually set in your photo editor in the Resize/Scale Image settings.
If you need help, I'd be glad to fix your photo for you. =)
Amelia
Omigosh, DILU!! Your baby golly is DARLING!!! I love the face and the little outstretched hands!!! Sooooo cute!!

GIMP [a free photo editing program, simply MARVELOUS] has some neat ones built into it...and there are lots of free tutorials and brushes on the web. If you get a membership to www.deviantart.com , a lot of photographers put up their photos to be edited---it's always noted in the body of the descriptive text accompanying the photo.
Amelia
Shelli, I've done a couple of collaborations---the most successful have been the Fairy Blossom collaborations, which are actually three artists collaborating [me making teddies/Furry Friends, Eileen Sterbach of www.intrepid-creations.com sculpting the faeries and Jenifer Burns sewing the clothing].
..Jewel & Pearl:
..Punkin & her teddy:
Fritz and his puppy:
..a pink-haired darling wif her kitty:
..the latest little boy and his bear:
..and I also did a collaboration with an artist who makes little woodland bases to display bears and faeries:
http://www.ifribble.com/eBay/Collaborat … ions/7.jpg
Generally the way I handled the collaboration is that the artists collaborating figured out what they wanted for their creation, and then started the auction out at that dollar amount. Anything that was above what each of the artist asked for initially was split down the middle. On the three-way collaboration, we each received a set price for what we contributed, and then it was split 4 ways [because the sculptor had gotten the least and done the most work] and the sculptor got 50% and the other two got 25% each.
Don't know if that helps but it always worked for me! Collaborations are fun, one can do things in the collaboration that, while it could work on its own, only benefits from the added elements of other artists.
And, Aleta, w00t! What a GREAT idea! I would love to see that put into physical being---post photos when it's done!! =)
Amelia
I will have to look into that! Sounds great for patterns! Currently am just using laminated cardstock, and it's a pain to laminate it all!
Amelia
Hi, Penny! I rather like the ears---I like bigger ears on cats, though, so I may be biased. Did you use felt for the inside of the ears? If you did, you can possibly needlefelt some mohair tufts so that it looks like the hair that covers the opening of cats ears. I think maybe what you're not happy with is the large expanse of smoothness that the ear appears to have, and that would fix it.
I actually really like this look---makes your kitty look more loveable, and not as ...nefarious as Cornelius!! He was one bad-ass kitty!
I absolutely LOVE your persians! Mind you, I'm partial to Siamese in real life, so me liking a Persian of any sort is HUGE!!! I especially like the bright skyblue eyes and pink nose this kitty has!

..not my story, but another funny one regardless!
Pregnant Turkey
A little Thanksgiving humor.
One year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to my sister's house for the
traditional feast.
Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to play a trick.
She told my sister that she needed something from the store.
When my sister left, my mom took the turkey out of the oven,
removed the stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen, and inserted it into the
turkey, and re-stuffed the turkey.
She then placed the bird(s) back in the oven.
When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the
oven and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon
hit something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird.
With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed,
"Patricia, you've cooked a pregnant bird!" At the reality of this
horrifying news, my sister started to cry.
It took the family two hours to convince her that turkeys lay eggs!
SHE'S A BLONDE!!!
=)

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a
bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's
mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and
tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words,
playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the
bird's vocabulary.
Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot
yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even
ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and
put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked
and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard
for over a minute.
Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door
to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched
arms and said, "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language
and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate
transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my
rude and unforgivable behavior."
John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about
to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior,
the bird continued, "May I ask what the turkey did?"
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Amelia
Ooooh, Stephanie, he's a cutie!! Love that vintage long pile! Where do you find it? Does it just show up in spurts on eBay or what?
Amelia
Oomph! He looks like he just fell into the pile of leaves! He's a darling, love the feet! Looks like he's having too much fun!
Amelia
..I use the slippery stuff and I hate the firm stuff with a passion---it gets mini teddies bumpy in all the WRONG places. I also receive from time to time packages with polymer fairies in 'em, and the artists use polyfil to cushion their sculpts. Usually the kind I can't use! I dislike wasting the stuff, but if I ever do bigger bears now I'll know that finally has a use!
Amelia
Kim, he is darling! love his little face and bod! I really like the fur too---must make another order to Stephanie! Lucky lucky buyer's daughter!

Also a Brit but I lived in Colorado for a year. There were a couple where none of the options were British English, so I just chose at random. They say American English is largely pronounced the way it is as an offshoot of South Western British English, although it evolved differently... Aussie slang words have a lot more in common with British English - when I lived in the US I worked with an Aussie and we'd say things to eachother that no-one else could understand! I always found it interesting that you have words like *trash* and *sidewalk* that died out from British English around the 18thC and many things most Brits think of as 'Americanisms' are actually just archaic British English (Can you tell I did a degree in English? !) Also we seem to have far more swear words and some of your rude words aren't rude here, and vice versa:
How INTERESTING!! I love studying language, and your summary sounds absolutely fascinating. I am enthralled by the Cockney rhyming slang---and found this awhile back:
http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/rabbit.aspx
Fun fun fun! Cockney rhyming slang, for those of you who remember Don Cheadle's part in Ocean's 11/12, is explained below:
Originating in London's East End in the mid-19th century, Cockney rhyming slang uses substitute words, usually two, as a coded alternative for another word. The final word of the substitute phrase rhymes with the word it replaces (for example - the cockney rhyming slang for the word 'look' is 'butcher's hook'). When only the first word of the replacement phrase is used, as is usual, the meaning is difficult to guess (ie 'butchers' = 'look'). Rhyming slang began 200 years ago among the London east-end docks builders. Cockney rhyming slang then developed as a secret language of the London underworld from the 1850's, when villains used the coded speech to confuse police and eavesdroppers. Since then the slang has continued to grow and reflect new trends and wider usage, notably leading to Australian rhyming slang expressions, and American too. Many original cockney rhyming slang words have now entered the language and many users are largely oblivious as to their beginnings.
...I love all of our differences that make us such unique individuals!!
Amelia
...huh! That's completely weird, I found it exceedingly difficult to turn---but I was also making my smallest ever bear [a HUGELY tiny 1 1/2"] too. I suppose that's the problem!! *LOL*
Perhaps I should try a normal sized bear [meaning 3" or so] with it. I just thought it might look a bit funny since I'm used to using a longer pile for the bear look...hrm. Might wait to see what my librarian's bear looks like, she just is finishing up one made with the short pile stuff.
Bear clothes is a GREAT idea! Am going to have to give that one a try!!
