Soooo cute, but I just love those feet, and that big toe!! Wonderfull!
Heather
Thanks Kim ( Basta )
I feel better knowing you don't get things right the 1st time. I thought it was just me.
Back to drawing patterns now,
Heather
Love the mini bear. I have to admit, I'm taking a ez bear university couse to design your own teddy.
It's going really well, but in my spare time at work, I've been trying to draw mini's. Using yours for inspiration, or my memory of them anyway.
I would just like to say
IT IS NOT EASY!!!!! I wasn't trying to copy you or anything, I hope you understand. But I need to give you credit for your artisic abilities.
Oh, and I'm working on what may be my last bought pattern. A very cool sleepy bear. Sure am learning lots though,
Heather
Great post Dilu. Very cleaver, and you have been paying attention. you must be so busy with your class and all.
I don't need to log in everytime. Have you checked the remember password box by your password? Or maybe you need to allow your computer to allow cookies, ( ummm, cookies....) or, you could just log in everytime.
Do you honestly believe I work in a computer helpdesk?? I do!!!
Heather
man, I feel so lucky that my 'real' job allows me to be signed on all day!!! So Amanda, don't feel bad leaving me alone here. But on my days off, I'm hardly here.
No hard feelings ever if you can't post,or reply to every thread.
Heather
You know Shari,I really like bearlooms. You should use that.
If not, let me know, maybe i'll steal it.
Shari's bearlooms. i LOVE IT!!
Heather
Okay, so here I am practicing drawing my own patterns. It's quite fun actually, and now I never want to use another artists pattern again. Okay, not never. but you get the point.
But I was wondering, the pattern that you are using right now, assuming that you designed it. If you were to take that pattern, and sell it without making any changes to it whatsoever, would someone be able to make it? What I mean is, do you have to fiddle getting the footpads in, or to fit the gusset etc?
Or does it all just fit one way.
I know i've made several patterns from other artsts that don't fit too well. The gusset is to short, foodpads to small etc. I'm thinking that the artist just has their own way of putting things together, and it works for them.
Am I Making sense??
Thanks guys for your input.
Heather
Kim.... where did you find my letter???
Sorry, had to say that. Very funny
Heather
Don't give up. But you're right. Sure it's nice to see how many people are interested in your bear, but they could also be interested copying your bear and need a picture to do so. I'd rather not see how many people are watching.
I remember I would get LOTS of questions about my item for sale. But questions like
"where do you get your felting supplies, or how do you sculpt that? Did you take it out of a book? Could you copy that book for me." and so on.
I found that when i would reply, no-one would even send a thank you back. And besides, I just wanted to sell my item. Not help people make one themselves.
Okay, I wanted to vent to.
Heather
Oh, and Amanda, thanks for clarifying for me. I was confused.
You guys are WAY too funny.
My favorite thing is chocolate and nuts. Any kind of nuts.
So I end up making my own chocolates.
I ALWAYS have chocolate chips around, so I melt the chips ( any kind ) and add in whole nuts that I've toasted. I call them nut clusters. hehehe sooo good.
ANd for those of you that can't eat sugar, this is perfect to use with sugar free chocolate.
Just my tip of the day.
Heather
wow, very lucky that cat found you!!!! You are soo sweet to help.
I had no idea there were soo many ferel cats around. I remember being in Hawaii in the rain forest and there were cats everywhere! I felt so bad for them because they would look at the humans, come getting closer than others. It was like they were just crying for help. People can be soo cruel, so it's nice to hear a good story.
Heather
I agree with everyone here. Either don't hold it, or only for a short time.
It would be nice think that everyone is honest and would come back for the bear. But you just never know.
Heather
Funny, I really thought that if you listed ebay, it would automatically show up in all countries. I use ebay.ca and I can see listings from US, UK etc.
Ebay can be complicated at times for sure.
Heather
Wow,such detail. Very cute.
Heather
Winney, very smart dog you have. But that also means you are very intune with her.
Pipa, funny story. I'm also glad you that watch out for these cats. Cats are pretty independant, but some people think they are COMPLETELY independant, and that's not true at all.
We used to have a cat that would ring the doorbell when he wanted to come in. No kidding. It took us a long time to figure out it was him though.
Heather
Judi, very well put. You've summed up how I feel in so few words. I would take me a whole book to say that.
So thank you
Heather
Eillen, great idea. I have never thought of rolling my mohair to store it. I like that idea a whole lot better than folding it.
Thanks for that,
Heather
Soo sweet! I love the 1st bear the best, but they are ALL great.
Thanks for sharing,
Heather
I'd also go for white. You could paint/airbrush/draw/felt colored toes on the bear if you really want some color.
Heather
We're all so the same. It's funny.
I just got some cool eyes from Beary cheap, and am waiting for a big box of mohair from Intercal. A great way to spend my smoking money!!!!!!!!
Heather
Oh Judy, I want to die just looking at him.
PLEASE make more and more and more.
17 pieces in the head. How do you do it girl!!!!!
I can really see your airbrushing talent. Freehand is crazy. Make sure this one sells for tonnes.
I also really like what you've done with the nose.
Heather
Good question!
I use the batt for the core of all my creations, and then use the roving over top.
The batt is also cheaper, so I have a HUGE bag of the stuff and then smaller amounts of the nice colored roving.
I'd be interested to here what everyone else does.
Heather
Neysa, I totally agree with you. I also agree with Susan.
Underpricing your work only hurts the situation more. If a collector can get a great artist bear for cheap, than that's what they expect to pay always.
There's a reason louie vuitton would never make a collection of cheap bags.
Neysa, you say that
"Needle Felting is a fiber art, introducing it at teddy bear/doll shows, club meetings, classes, seminars etc... can only help people understand the time it takes to create and the talent to create these incredible critters we are making. The more knowledgable the collector the more they will spend. Anyone agree or disagree???"
I agree to a point. But what I don't understand is when someone is buying a painting, do they even for a second think about how long it took the artist to paint it? Not really.
This business I think is alot about your art, but also alot about your marketing, public apeal etc. Just like any business.
My 2 cents for the day!!!
Heather
You are so cleaver Paula. Great bear and really great idea!
