I grabbed this from one of my Yahoo groups and wanted to share, just for your information.  Did you have any idea that the sale of teddy bears could raise $76,000 for Tsunami relief???

Just think how we bear artists, individuals coming together, could contribute meaningfully to the world as a whole, to charities and organizations of all types and kinds, over time, if we continue to put this beloved hobby of ours to loving, community-minded use.  Just... wow!

From MJ Sichak, Golden Teddy 2005 nominee:

Hi All,

I just wanted to share with you the results of the fundraising efforts of
the ITBRF (International Tsunami Bears Relief Fund) so far.

I am posting the break down I recieved from Linda Mullins.
I think it would be wonderful to continue raising funds through this group
representing the Teddy Bear world as one community. Please feel free to
share this information with other bear groups. I would like to help them by
coordinating an auction or auctions and individual sales with the money
raised going to the Red Cross to aid the hurricane victims.

The red Cross is a well established and trusted organization that has
traditional been the first to respond during a disaster.

Washington D.C. ITBRF Doll & Teddy Bear Auction: $57,931.00

American ITBRF Cash Donations & Presales: $1,882.00

Expo ITBRF Sales from Donated Paw-in-Paw Bears, Artist Bear and related Bear
& Doll items: $4,370.05

Japan Teddy Bear Association ITBRF Donation: $9,000

Teddy Bar Total ITBRF Donation: $3,060

Total funds raised from the International Teddy Bear Relief Fund project to
date: $76,243.05

I would especially like to point out how much was raised because of our BAG
group (a private Yahoo group) efforts.

Now the $4,370.05 was not only from Paw and Paw bears, the slaes table had
many other wonderful artist bears that were donated for sale but they were
donated because artists saw the paw and paw bears and gave bears and dolls
on the spot to help in the efforts. SO I feel the BAG groups Paw and Paw
donations inspired the additional generousity.

So you all deserve special thanks.

Isn't it amazing what the bear community can do when we join together. Lets
continue to so and now this time lets see what we can do to help the people
who were devastated by this hurricane.

This just shows the world that Teddy Bears are more than just cute and cuddly things.  They actually DO make a difference.

Those who still want to get in on the Teddys For Charity still can.  There is info on this at www.northcountryteddybears.com

It's never too late to give tothose who are in need.
