Thank you for the awesome Texas welcome, SueAnn! I lived in the Fort Bliss/El Paso area for a year, the hubs is in the Army ( I'm an Army Veteran) I didn't get a chance to explore Texas as much as I would have liked, but we may be moving to the Dallas area when he retires in a few years!
The holidays and my bright idea of painting and reorganizing my studio has halted my teddy plans for a bit, but Ive put the painting off long enough. The builder grade flat paint has got to go!! Maybe I might even be able to organize in such a way that it stays organized. Cha right! I'm like a creative hurricane. Lol.
Peter, thank you! I know dolls arn't for everyone, they creep quite a number of people out. My twins use to insist that I close my studio door at night! Lol. Admittedly, I like a bit of the creep factor in my dolls, but I think the bears that appeal to me the most are the antique/vintage style. I love the old, grungy, been well loved look of them. Like a kid drug them around everywhere for years. That's the look I'm hoping to attempt. I'll have to do some more research in the library on distressing. Ahhhh, I'm sure I'll be scared as heck that I might completly ruin the mohair!!
Pink, thanks so much! I've been reading up and building up my courage! I've made a couple of stuffed critters and button jointed animals, so hopefully the transition won't be too difficult.
EJ, I'm definitely not that brave, I've had this mohair for years! Course, I'll blame the dolls for my procrastination. They are a demanding lot! And soon I'll have bears talking to me. Lol
Koonie, thank you so much I really love making dolls, they're so much fun to make. I'm patiently awaiting for more bear making supplies to arrive. I think I'll have to order a few more things, like artificial sinew and excelsior.
I'm sooooo excited! Maybe I'll play around with trying to make a pattern while I wait! Thanks so much for your warm welcome
I just joined TT after having stalked it's pages for a steady few weeks now! I'm a total newb when it comes to bear making, but I do make ooak art dolls. I bought some mohair a few years ago but haven't gotten around to cutting it up yet. *EEEEEE* I have to admit the thought is a bit intimidating! I've just purchased some joints and eyes and I'm ready to take the bear plunge!
I'm super excited about joining TT, I've read so many posts and comments and the people here are so friendly and awesome. I can't wait to make some bear lovin friends!!
Thanks so much for reading this.
