Hi Samantha

I agree with Diane and Shelli, the best thing to do is really study some pictures of old bears.  For some inspirational pics of some really beautiful old bears, have a look at the Christies auction site - http://www.christies.com/departments/ex … asp?DID=55.

Also something else worth remembering when your designing your new pattern is that the old german bears have wider head gussets, not much height on their foreheads and the front of their muzzles don't have quite as much depth as some modern bears.

Hope this helps (says she who is really struggling to make a new 12" pattern that actually resembles a bear!)

Oh Jane

I'm so sorry - such very sad news, poor little lamb.   Thinking of you, hugs to you all.

Your moonlings are wonderful - they look like meerkat angels - well not that I've ever seen one - but they'd definitely look like moonlings!  My girlies love them too.  Fantastic!

Daphne

You've done a fantastic job, to be honest I had to look closely twice and read your message though again to be certain which was you latest bunny and which was their computer design.  I think you've done a superb job!

Oh Helena, I'm so sorry to hear your news, how terribly worrying and frightening for you.

Oh  Penny

Hi Charise

It may not be your sewing or stuffing, it could be the way the seam is laying insde muzzle.  I've often had this problem before myself.    If you have a look at Debbies post about centre seam help on page 2 of tips and techniques all will be revealed!  Winney has a tip for changing the direction of the seams once a bear is stuffed.  I tried it last week on a squiffy muzzle and it worked a treat - once straight muzzele seam! bear_original

Congratulations Daphne    - I've not been in here properly for a while and have just seen your post.  You keep blowing your horn really loud - I know I would!  You sound so excited, it's absolutely fantastic.

Be sure to keep us all posted!

Eileen...I have that " flipped seam " problem all the time..I never saw a remedy on any board and really wondered if I was the only one that had the problem !!! that can drive you nuts.

I dont even bother to unstuff my bear..I just use a hefty needle to enter at one side of  the offending seam and sort of flip it over to the other side...works great...altho I was thinking about gluing the seam before hand I did not think that would work because how can I tell how the fur will lay later before its stuffed ?..

Just wanted to let you know that Winneys needle poking method also seems to sort out squiffy muzzle seams, usually they end up in the bin.   Today has been one of those days when everything I've done has gone wrong  bear_angry  - just as I was about to throw the offending head on the floor and jump on it I remembered the post about fur laying the wrong way.  So I undid the mouth and had a little poke to see if I could change the direction of the seam and "Hey Presto" by changing the way the inside of the seam was lying straightened out the outside.  THANK YOU  Winney - not only did your tip save my sanity it saved the little bear from a very nasty end! bear_innocent

Congratulations Judi!

That's fabulous news, you must be thrilled!

Hi Eileen

I bought some very sweet little wings before Christmas - they're still waiting for their bear.  I ordered them from http://www.wingsofangels.net/heads2.html - I couldn't find any suppliers in the UK, and very few of the US suppliers would ship them to the UK - a bit strange.  Anyway, she was a very nice lady and took Paypal too.

Oh Jenny

You clever thing, Ginger Nut is stunning!  He's absolutely stunning!

Debbie

He's adorable - very, very sweet.  It was certainly worth all the hassle with his "hair".  You must be so pleased!

vkallum

Jenny - he's fantastic.  I look forward to seeing him on the day, although I'd better come and see him before the show opens because I don't think he'll be hanging around!

vkallum

Debbie

He's looking fab -  it's really paid off re-stufiing him.  I feel the urge to make center seam coming on!

Will you post the finished piccies?

vkallum

Debbi - you're right it does have a very distinctive feel - the stuffed head is very light almost as if it's made of polystyrene, in fact I quite like the feel of it.  I've just done his face, I couldn't hold off and wait to see if he deflated over night.  I have to say it gave a very nice base for embroidering his nose.

Jenny and Shelli - I know what you mean about those fibres! bear_angry I was actually considering putting on a home decorators mask, it was horrible breathing in the airborne bits of fluff - they were everywhere.  I didn't have any form of allergic reaction to it, it was just unpleasant.   I usually use polyfil too, but I ordered a large box of kapok a while back (and woodwool too bear_whistle ) so I thought I had better try and use at least some of it!

If his head has collapsed byy the morning I'll let you know!
