Hi, how are you? I am new to making bears and rabbits. I am looking to start with inexpensive fabric until I get more experience in making them. Is plush fabric that you can find at hobby lobby a good fabric to try on? If so, how do you distress it to give it an old look? Thank you.

When I started making bears, I used plush fabric or fake fur.  Because of its expense, I felt I needed lots of practice before investing in mohair.  I created a lot of bears before I felt comfortable using mohair.  The surprise for me was discovering that it's easier than fake fur to work with and sew.  I googled 'plush fabric for making teddy bears' and a ton of good information came up.  Hopefully that might help you decide how you want to proceed.
