I agree Laurie. I never want to come home either.
I think Whitby feels more like home than my real home does :)
It might be partly to do with them holding the gothic weekend twice a year, so we can wear whatever we like and not get any abuse, which is great.
Pic 1 = Me and Rob
Pic 2 = Whitby Abbey at night
Pic 3 = St Marys church
Pic 4 = The abbey and St Marys through the whalebones
Pic 5 = Me and Rob again
Pic 6 = Me and Rob yet again
And finally pic 7 = The view from our room window
I just thought you'd like to see us all dressed up in a few of our outfits.
We had tons of photos taken. Both by professional photographers and tourists.
Great fun.
This is Alastor, my little devil bear.
He is 12.5" tall. He still needs his wings though
Hey, I'm back from my hols in Whitby. We went for the gothic weekend.
We were both all dressed up nice all weekend, and got stopped hundreds of times for pictures. It was great fun!!
I also got engaged on Monday too, YAY
I'll put some pics up later. I have to resize them first.
This is a link to the estate agents that we are buying it from (Whitegates).
We went to look at a house on Tuesday, and we have decided to buy it.
It is our first house, so I am getting really excited about sorting it all out and moving in.
At the minute I live between houses. Rob works 4 on 4 off (nights), so I am at my house when he is working and at his house when he is off work. It gets really confusing. But now I can just live in one place all the time, which is great!!
I can't wait.
We go to Whitby Gothic Weekend. It is great. There are bands on at night, stalls during the day. It is basically a big meet up for all us goths.
Pretty much everyone gets dressed up, which looks great. There are even professional photographers walking around to get people pictures (only if they are dressed up though).
Only a week and a half left, I can't wait.
If you want to take a look at what it is all about, the official Whitby Gothic Weekend site is below.
My favourite films are:
Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, anything by Tim Burton (e.g. Nightmare before Christmas etc.), Interview with the Vampire, Bram Stokers Dracula, Ice Age.
Too many to mention really .
I met Rob through my ex. I have known Rob for about 6 years, and we have been together for 3 years, although it feels like forever (in a good way).
Not married yet. But he knows that I want to be married before I'm 30.
I like that!!
Sorry Wendy.
The bear is only 3.5" tall. I uploaded the pic from my works computer. I don't have anything on here to downsize the pics.
He isn't really scary. Honest .
I will make the pics smaller when I get home tonight.
I took these against a navy blue background. One glows and the other doesn't. I think it just depends on the angle that you take the photo.
I don't really have a technique. Rob has a couple of digital cameras, so I just keep taking photos until I am happy with the result, then delete the bad ones.
It looks ace. Definitely easier to see the bears.
I have never tried dying anything so I can't help on that.
What I can't understand is why she bought some fabric that she doesn't actually like. That is just strange, most people buy things because they like them. Mohair isn't exactly the cheapest material either
Me too
Good luck Jennie
I listen mainly to rock/heavy metal. I usually sit and sing along whilst I'm sewing.
At the minute I'm listening to Nightwish.
Awww. My fave is the little purple and white one.
It is too hot where I am too. It is cooler outside than it is in my office at work. We have just got a mobile air con unit, but if you stand more than 6 inches away from it, it makes no difference.
I want a thunderstorm. That might cool it down a bit.
He is still called Henry.
Jak asked me to make him a dog. Not just any dog, it had to be like Rob's dog "Henry" (he is an Alsatian/Collie cross).
I was going to airbrush the darker parts of the dog to match the real Henry, but Jak decided that he liked him as he is.
Henry is now a guard dog. He either sits at the end of Jaks bed or in his doorway on a night. Hehe
I started out because a couple we know were going to have a baby, and I thought it would be nice if I made them a bear.
Since then, my mum bought me a book with patterns in it as an early christmas pressie, and just enjoyed making them.
He has a blue collar and a blue tag in the shape of a bone. (I took the photo before I had chance to get to the pet shop.
Henry is the first dog I have done. Ok, it is someone elses pattern, but it was very difficult (I can only sew with my right hand). I was up sewing until 5 in the morning so that it would be finished in time. I made it for Robs nephews 6th birthday this month.
I think I might stick to bears for the time being.
