Pictures will be exciting to see even if it's months from now!!! YOU are much more important and I'm glad to see that so far you are resting... or at least not posting pictures!!!

The same thing happened to my hubby a few years ago. He was in so much pain, it was very scary. He is fine now... hopefully you will be too!

Daphne

WOW!!! Scott is almost a year and a half already!?!?!?! Time sure flies! Congratulations on baby #2! That is exciting news! I'm sorry about the nausea and hope it passes soon! Hugs to you all!

Daphne

Fun to see all the pictures.... I missed being there this year.... hopefully life won't get in the way next year!!! Thanks for sharing your trip w/us!

Daphne

I'm still not seeing an ounce of shine, never mind happiness in the eyes of the dogs in THESE photos and look at all the negative comments to the article! Groomers may see the fun and acceptablity in this sort of thing, it's what they do! But its clear there are a lot of regular old dog owners out there who don't and can see the obvious anything-but-happy looks on these dogs faces. I'm glad to hear the paints are at least safe for them, thanks for clearing that up Cyndee.

Edited to add that I'm thinking if the dogs in these photos (which is what people are basing their opinions on) LOOKED like they were enjoying all this we might see the fun in it too.... we all respond to the expression on someone's face - human or animal. If they'd just been parading around and all happy they'd be panting, smiling, eyes full of life, etc. I guess I'm just not seeing that!

Daphne

Wonder what that paint does to their skin. I'm sure they inhale it too. Putting a cute little sweater/jacket/rhinestone collar etc. on a pampered pooch is one thing. These dogs had to stand there for two hours AT the show but that doesn't count the hours beforehand being washed, brushed,  then painted... then at the show getting clipped, manipulated, hair entensions weaved in to make a mane, probably got paint in their eyes so they could have black rings around them like a panda, had God knows what attached to their back so they'd have a camels hump. The process is practiced over and over to get it right. The dogs didn't endure all this just once! Its so unnatural and goes so far beyond a traditional wash and clip.

I sat through as much of a TV show as I could bear on this very thing. Those were not happy dogs. It was very obvious and people were there trying to stop this nonsense! The people who do this may be creative but that doesn't make it right. Even the photographer was quoted as saying: "'By the time the dogs get to me after they have been through the tournament they are bounding around and very happy." Of course they are bounding around. They're finally free! Their owners are done with the spray paint and pulling and tugging at their fur and them having to stand still!

Just my opinion of course. bear_noexpression

I can only tell you that there is no charge for the one done locally here, put on by the library. They do it as a fund-raiser event. I haven't attended so don't know how they actually end up raising money but I'd say a donation is a great idea. You could have a table set up at the enterance. I know this really great guy who could greet people and collect money!! David something......  bear_grin

Oh, just remembered another TB picnic that's an annual event at the minor league baseball field. They charge $10 per child and have a LOT of activities and prizes and vendors too.

Hi Daphne,
When I clicked on your link it states "Your search returned no hits."
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Cyndee

No, it was a dead link. I've updated my post. But you could do what I did and get the same results. As mentioned above I clicked on "search" in the menu bar at the top of the page and searched for "fabric tags".

The same suggestions have been mentioned above here but there are some great tips in some of the other discussions we've had!

Daphne

There is a library here on TT as well as a search function that will enable you to look for info shared in the past! (That's not to say some more great ideas won't come long in response to your question! The more the merrier!) If you need a quick answer or want to gather info while you wait for a response to your question you might consider doing a little research here.

My first thought is to have your vet look at Bingley to be sure he doesn't have a bug, infection, parasite, etc. that's making him lathargic and not eat well. That would be a concern to me.

If he's healthy then yes, it's probably emotional. I learned the hard way that cooing and fussing over a dog who is showing emotional behavior... moping, pouting, etc. only encourages more of the behavior because they learn that they'll get attention that way. I don't know if you are doing this or not... it was a natural reaction for me to feel bad and make a fuss over my dog and I learned it was the wrong thing so just passing it on. I don't have advice on how to bring Bingley out of his emotional state if that's indeed his problem. Take him for rides? Go on extra long walks and burn off some of that negative energy perhaps?

I dog sit for three of my neighbors when they go away and they've all found their dogs are much better off staying at home and having me come in a few times a day than sending them to a boarding facility. In fact, my vet recommends the same thing..... leave your dog at home with someone if you can. Its familiar... your scents are there... the dog can relax. If your neighbor is willing to take Bingley overnight at her house next time you go away perhaps she'd be willing to have a practice run or two before you go again... get him used to being there overnight and if he starts barking excessively she can bring him right back to you!

Do have him checked out by a vet to be sure he's not sick though.

Daphne

Yay! Glad she's got nothing serious wrong AND that she's mellowing in the house! FINALLY! bear_original

If it's a browser issue I'll tell you that in tracking my website stats through my counter over the years the vast majority of visitors (always over 80%) use Internet Explorer so changing it to something those users can see might be a good idea. I hope it's just a matter of an easy fix as it sounds like a neat way to show pictures!

Daphne

Those photos/flipping books don't come up for me either. Just a box w/an x in it. I use internet explorer for a browser but I'm not sure if it's a browser issue or a matter of it being a format/program not everyone has. but I agree, if one or two of us has problems, many others will too. Sorry I can't help you figure that one out!

Daphne

I love it!!!! GReat job!!! I know what it's like doing a website overhaul..... phew!!!

The following artist links don't work: Rufnut Teddies and Teddies by Laura Lynn. On Laura's you just need to remove the slash at the end of the address and put .com. Karen's website is rufnutteddys.com

I've just added a link to your website on my site! I'd love it if you added mine! www.backroadbears.com

We take Tucker to a doggy dermatologist in Boston (2 hrs away) to deal with his allergies. He's had all kinds of skin and blood tests to determine his allergies, has been on prednisone when it was real bad, benadryl, other doggy anti-histamines and he's on allergy shots AND a nasal inhaller. In all I've learned/read/been told wheezing is not a common allergy symptom. Environmental allergy symptoms are usually (not always) external in the form of itching, hair loss, hot spots, lesions, ear infections etc.

Tucker sounds wheezie when he breathes, especially when sleeping but it's not in his chest, it's in this throat/nose as a result of residual inflammation from nasal passage infections which he gets from environmental allergies. Can you tell if Dakota's wheezing is in her chest?

Tucker is allergic to cats, humans, horses and sheep in addition to grasses, trees, weeds, molds and FOOD! Poor dog! LOL!

None of that was helpful I'm sure but YES.... dogs get allergies and asthma... I think purebreds are worse. It will be intresting to hear what your vet says... I hope it's something easily treatable!

Daphne

Sometimes the tiniest wee little things inspire me! For example, I was digging through my grandmother's buttons the other day and found a 10mm button that had a pretty design on it and I immediately thought of a mohair I have that matches the color perfectly.... and that brought to mind the image of a wee little bear wearing something I can attach that button to!!! And so it goes...........

Daphne

Nancy, thank you for clearning that up for me!!! Every time I say or think your last name I come up with something different. Now that I've seen your alternative spelling I won't forget it!  bear_thumb

Daphne

That last picture could be Samantha yelling at you to get off TT and get some work done!! LOL!

Great pictures! My dogs act as bosses by laying at my feet, surrounding the legs of my chair when I'm working so there is no way I can get up and wander off!!! LOL!

Daphne

Michele - I've been very active with the biz name of Back Road Bears for 9 yrs now.... I'm good w/the name... would be a lot of work to change the name and retrain collectors! I was simply saying that using your name is great but if it's tricky to spell and you plan to have an internet presence/website address, people might have a hard time finding you if they can't spell it. Yes, a knick name or variation of one's name might work.

Funny though, the artists I admire most and who are extremely successful haven't used their names in their bear business name at all! Yet I'd never forget it, the artists themselves or their work!

I'm not a mom and know next to nothing about high chairs.
BUT... I just had to do a little poking... curiosity always gets me!!!
I found only one place with photos of highchairs that look anything like yours. I found the shape of the back and foot rest and simple straight legs almost identical to the chair you have! Nothing about a namebrand, in fact, these are likely handmade. But thought you might like to see what they sell for!! LOL!

BTW - did you get my email in response to yours from last weekend?
