Past Time Bears - Artist bears designed and handcrafted by Sue Ann Holcomb

Fallenrose

Hi Maria,

I was there on saturday - and it was so great! (Okay, can't compare, it was my first show^^)
I saw so much great bears, but had only the money to buy one - what a hard decision to take! My boyfriend bought me one that I had chosen in the end, but I wish I had had more money: There was an incredibly talented miniature bear artist and I fell in love with one of the wee ones..... Well, I won't see my new bear again until my next birthday as it is a present.... but that's okay, it's just two more months!  bear_original

Aaand I bought lots of new materials - couldn't resist the "20% off the mohair", and there was also a piece of wonderful white synthetic fur with blue tips that I got for 5€, and lots of fabrics for miniature bears.... Oh, I also found some steel shot to give my bears some weight....  bear_grin  Yeah, lots of bears will come!

My boyfriend was really fascinated by a bear with joints at the arms so that those could be spinned around - and he told me "please make me a bear with ellbow- and knee-joints". well, I thought about it all the night and just before waking up, I had an idea how to make it - so be prepared for a bear with 19 joints

Well, what else can I say? It was a great day and I'll come back again with pleasure!

Hugs, Ariane

P.S. Congratulations for your Golden George, you really deserve it!

I exchanged some messages with Natalia, but she hasn't answered my last mail  bear_sad

I'm so excited who my partner will be, this is my first swap! bear_happy

Karon, are we supposed to talk to our partner beforehand (ask if he has favorite colours etc) or shall it remain our secret until we send the bear?

Ariane

Haven't had the time to start my bear, I had so much to do with university and some other stuff I need to sew...

And I don't know if I wanna go there alone...hm...

Fallenrose

Rheda-Wiedenbrück - that's on my way when I drive to my boyfriend lol Maybe I can convince him to go there with me?!

Fallenrose

Hi Maria,

when and where does the Teddybär total show take place? I'd love to visit a bear show, it would be the first time!

Hugs, Ariane

Gully: Artist bears are bears created by artists (and thus not massproduced) - like the bears you can see on here in the marketplace, for example^^

Hi Karon,

I gave it another thought - and I so badly want to take part in this swap, I'll absolutely find the time to do so  bear_thumb
So, erase the question mark behind my name - I'm in, that's for sure.

Hugs, Ariane

PS: Wow, great to see how many talented people there are on the list!

Fallenrose

Thanks for your opinions on this, girls.
I absolutely agree that there is a lot of work tat has to be put in a miniature bear and that it surely isn't less than with a bigger bear. I personally wouldn't care what kind of bear I'd get as I know how much effort was put in it - I just wanted to know what thers think of this, too^^

Fallenrose

Karon, what about miniature-bear makers? I mean...yu can't pair u somebody making miniatures with making big bears, can you? the costs wouldn't be in the same range (costs for materials, I mean).

July..well, could be managabe for me, yeah.... count me in for now... I'll let you know if there is any other trouble^^

Fallenrose

I'm really tempted, too... depends on the deadline though, as I have 3 commissions to finish and soon my university will start again

Fallenrose

Hi Karen,
I'm a little into steampunk too and know that you'll absolutely need to put gears, watchparts and other cool metal parts onto your cat!

Fallenrose

Well, there isn't a "right" or a "wrong" way - you can do however you want to! And if this works for you - why not?^^

I Prefer to finish the head before I put it onto a body but that's jsut my way of doing it^^

Hugs, Ariane

Fallenrose

I'M probably in..f university lets me! bear_rolleyes
So..I always wanted to make an open-mouthed bear - that's what I'll try!

Fallenrose

Becky I think the idea sounds great - I loved watching the out of my comfort zone challenge^^
