PS I tried to add myself to your mailing list on your website, but it gave me an error message saying there was no recipient address...i don't know much about computers..so i don't know if its a problem my end or yours..I would assume recipient is you...but you might want to look into it

kezjoy

Kerrilyn

kezjoy

if your sister in law doesn't love him..send him to me cos i do love him!!!! what kind of fabric did you use?? it looks so soft...great job!!
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

lol..glad you all enjoyed that...did everyones mum have the "good" scissors that you weren't allowed to use?? bear_grin I thought of a teddy bear related one after I sent it in...probably not so much the 70's kids, but earlier kids didn't have safety eyes and safety joints on their teddies..they got boot buttons and cardboard..and didn't  choke and die from it.

kids today find it difficult to entertain themselves..which to me is very sad..they are also so used to getting their own way..all they have to do is pout a bit and they get what they want..i don't understand some of the parents at all (I work in a cinema and see it all the time.."but I want my 10 year old to go to the R rated movie..how dare you tell me no..he wants to see it..by himself cos I embarrass him"..arghh
Kerrilyn..no kids yet..but hopefully soon!

THOSE BORN 1920-1979

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1920's,30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants &children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because, WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computer! s, no Internet or chat rooms.......

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

kezjoy

ugh..that would be frustrating..you would think theyd send a warning and give you a chance to remove it yourself first..i suppose its more work for them..and we all know ebay want to do as little work as they possibly can for the largest profit!!

I actually reported an auction a couple of weeks ago..i was looking in sculptures and there was a chinese one of two people at it..absolutey nothing was left to the imagination..i thought it was a bit over the top and not appropriate for kids to see..I don't know if anything was done about it cos i didn't go back to look (once was enough thanks!!)..so sometimes it is good that people are reporting stuff..but the stories in here show some people take things a bit too literally..i mean a website on a side tag...good grief.

I hope you can relist it for no extra charge!! Let us know how you go.

Kerrilyn

kezjoy

hmmm.Im not sure..youre going to have to experiment..I'd try clear nail polish or varnish to see if the extra shine makes them look any better..or rub them with very fine sandpaper to make them look boot buttony..good luck!!
Kerrilyn

bear_cry the poor dog..wheres the RSPCA or ASPCA or whoever the animal welfare group is in that area...ugh..thats awful..how could people just watch and not do anything.....

i don't hate it..but my speakers are off 99% of the time..the trailing things can be annoying..i went on one site where they kept blocking up what i wanted to read!!! i don;'t think the website owner had checked it out themselves!! they need an off button too..another site i went to had anime creatures falling down on the page..also blocking what needed to be read..cute but really annoying
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

bear_wub awww. shes so cute..i love monkeys
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

aww she is cute..the name that sprung into my mind when I saw her was Tutu..Im sure whatever you pick will be fab..have fun with her!!

kezjoy

Thanks everyone..it is amazing to see the difference that can be made when youre more experienced!

Daphne, Thanks for showing me where the library is..id heard there was one but hadn't located it yet!! (now that i see it I think I must have been blind before..its so obvious!!LOL)

Marion, yes, he is synthetic..it look me a long time to be brave enough to cut into mohair!! mind you, that fabric was really expensive too (steiff used it , so I needed to have it LOL..brand names..yes Im a sucker!!) maybe I just didn't felt enough before I tugged at it and it came off..Im an impatient person..but Im still happy with how hes turned out!!
Kerrilyn

first-bears-001.JPGHere's my first two bears..aptly named Number One and Number Two..(One is on the left.) It took me about 10 terribly cheap knit fur fabric bears before i could pluck up the courage to cut into my expensive piece of mohair..now i don't have a problem with it..but I was so scared of wasting it being so expensive..I actually found a bag of scraps I kept to use as stuffing so it wasn't thrown in the bin...uh..I guess i forgot to use it LOL
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

head, arms then legs..jointing is probably my least favorite part of bear making..my joints are nearly always loose and end up slightly crooked or too far forward or back..but reading in here has made me anxious to try again and shave off the fur under the disk and see if that helps with being loose...and the rest of my problems i guess I just need to practise a lot more..thats one thing i love about doing minis..i can just string joint!!
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

Ooo hes gorgeous..I love round chunky bears..theyre just made for hugging..Ive tried and tried to make chunky bears..but mine never turn out as i want...whats the trick to a round head?? Mine are always flat on top..and whats the trick to a round belly while we're at it??
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

I love him!!! those eyes are so expressive and alert..hes ready to go round up the sheep
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

Wow, she is gorgeous!!! She should make someone very happy indeed and raise lots of money!!! Well done
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

bear-changes-002.JPGhmm..well i got one pic on..that was the before with his glue on nose and falling out wonky eyes..heres the after
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

bear-changes-001.JPGI picked up a bear I made in my early bear making years (this is about the 5th bear I made)..back then I was rubbish at noses and cheated and gave him a glue on one..I was never happy with the face of this bear, but his body was so soft and well made (for then!!) that I could never chuck him in the scrap bin..so I decided to give him a felted muzzle after reading about it in here..so i felted and felted..but alas the nose wasn't stuffed with wool (probably polyester as thats what i used in the early 90's) and so a tug made it come right off again...so I soft sculpted his nose area, gave him a new nose (still not very good at them..I always have some showing through as can be seen in the picture..i gave it 3 layers..I give up..whats the trick???) shaded him a bit with prisma pencils, new eyes and voila..I love him now..not a great pic..hes much lovelier in the fur..but its given me joy to finally see this bear in a state I can be proud of..now lets see if I can figure outr how to put the before and after pics on here!!
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

wow..they are so realistic!!! My felting never turns out like that..I must try harder
Kerrilyn

kezjoy

that is annoying. I have heard that a way to get payment from some people is to send them a bill with a photograph attached. The photo can be your kids or pets sitting folornly around an empty dinner bowl saying something about how by not paying what you owe, youre taking the food from your kids or pets mouths..apparently it works on a  lot of people to see what it is they are actually doing by not paying and makes you seem like a real person..i read about it in a  business marketing book..of course its not going to work on everyone..but its worth a try..if you don't have kids or pets..you could do one of hubby..or do a search for a similar picture..hope that helps
