Happy St. Patrick's Day to all.
I have been married to a red haired Irishman for almost 52 years and we use to celebrate every year but years and health has taken the celebration away. May wear green though today, if I can find some.
Thanks Shane, for explaining this guys art. He seems to be making a statement with his art. As teddy bears artists we see this as ugly and why would any one what to do this as we see the world all warm and fuzzy with a teddy bear but the world is not always warm and fuzzy. Abuse happens and there are those who use their art to depict this. I personally don't like it but, art is in the eye of the beholder and for this we have to respect what he does.
Am with Becky, I think every one of my bears has a spot of blood. I have never got use to using a thimble so the finger I push the needle through the fur with always seems to have a spot where the needle has drawn blood.
Alison, what a cute little guy. The smallest bear I even made was a 6". All my bears are done on the sewing machine.
What an adorable ornament for an adorable lady.
Cindi, any machine that works for you is a good machine. As you can see by all the posts, we all have different machines and they work for us. I can not tell you how many machines I have had in my lifetime because I have been sewing since I was a little girl. Right now I am in love with my newest machine which is the Brothers Limited Edition sewing/embroidery machine. It does every thing from threading the needle to cutting the thread when you are done. My eyes are not very good anymore so these features are just what I needed.
If we encourage you to start sewing, I am glad because we all need something in our lives to look forward too. Being retired, I now sew for the fun of it. It keeps me active. I use to do Art & Craft shows almost every weekend and worked full time besides and loved it. Now it is back to being a hobby and I can still make enough money off of it to pay for supplies and a little extra.
I have enjoyed seeing everyones room or even the little spaces that everyone works in. This has been a great thread. Thank you.
Jane, the pictures are wonderful. I really don't know how you are able to get around and get all these great pictures but I truly thank you as I will never be able to see it in person. Thank you!!! Thank you!!!
Poor baby
New Home is a very old maker of sewing machines and some time ago they were bought out by Janome. As far as I know they no longer use the New Home name.
Sewing machines............well up until 3 weeks ago I had 6 machines. I ran out of room so I sold two of them and now have only 4. Two of them are New Home, one an old treadle machine which works but I don't use and one that has been my work horse for the last 8 years and I just retired it to a new machine. The other two are Brothers machines. One a standard machine and my newest, a sewing/embroidery machine. I love my new machine because it just about does every thing.
Thanks Shane. This one is several shades of grey.
Thanks Joann. I thought it might be lamb but I didn't know so I thought I would ask the experts here on TT.
He is adorable!!
I have this fur that I had in a box for I don't remember how many years.
It is an old coat I got from a thrift shop. I took the coat apart and the leather backing is in great shape. I cut out a bear and sewed it up but this will be the last time I can work with this as my hands can't take it anymore.
Anyway, does anyone know what kind of fur it is????? It is very soft and curly. If anyone wants the rest of this coat you can have it. It is a big coat and if you will pay shipping, I will send it to you. Just pm me. I also have some mink from an old coat too. Not sure how good the leather on this is as I haven't had it out in a while.
thanks for your help.
Love all the pictures.
I have a sewing room that I call an organized mess. I know where everything is but others may not think so. I have a double closet full to the top with fabric and spilling out into the room from making clothing and quilts etc for many years and then there is all the faux furs that take up so much more room than mohair. Oh and the cabinet full of patterns that is now overflowing. And I haven't even got to the boxes and bins full of ribbon, accessories and supplies for everything I made. Maybe some day I will get some pictures but first I really need to clean it up some
Paddy is 10 inches tall, 5 way jointed, locking child safe eyes and nose and made of a soft faux fur and has felt paws and feet pads. He is available on my website.
Beautiful, I love your cats!
Sweet little guy,
It sure looks like they were having lots of fun. Thanks for sharing
Love that sad look.
I have traded a lot. I always feel I get the better deal but I suppose they feel the same way. I have had fees reduced from a lawyer and a roofer for a trade and then there is all the lovely wool I got for trading with a needlefelter and another one who does clothing from fur and I got some of that. I love to trade.
Tami, you find some of the cutest pictures. Love this one.
Beautiful, beautiful! I love pandas.
He is a reall sweetie!
