HI every one,
I made a mini from a kit and would like to try more making my own design. Where do you all find fabric for minis? I like the look so it has some pile to it. Do You mostly use mohair or other?

I haven't ordered any yet, but Melissa referred me to www.sassybearsandfabrics.com for mini fabric. They have a lot to choose from.

Good Morning Lynn,

Goood for you - here are some links;

It all depends on how mini a mini you want to make.

Also try e-bay  sometimes you can get some ok to good buys- go to Dolls and Bears-bear making supplies.

Emily Farmer sometimes sells scraps that are pleanty big enough for minis

here's the e-bay bearmaking supplies opening page...be careful though-some of the sellers can really try to rip you off.....

you can get scraps and end pieces for reasonable. Edinbrugh imports has a grab bag deal for mini fabric that is cheap and good fabric.
Sassy bears and fabrics always has great prices for mini fabric.

Sassy all the way. I absolutely agree with Kim on this one.

If you are looking for anything with a pile you can't go past Sassy long pile.  WAY cheaper than the vintage long pile and also way easier to work with than vintage long pile.  I hadn't made true minis with upholstery velvet for a couple of years and recently tried some sassy long pile.  I absolutely loved the result and how it was to work with.  She provides really fast service too and keeps you informed every step of the way which is always a bonus in my book!  Darn it, I just wish I could sell some bears so that I could buy some more...I have my list all prepared but just bought plane tickets home for Christmas and my wallet is emptier than empty!

Hi Estelle, thanks for the compliment  :)

Like many people here I use a lot of the sassy bears fabric, at http://www.sassybearsandfabrics.com/fabrics.htm . It's the smokey long pile halfway down the page. I've also been using some of the sassy long pile, the next item down. Stephanie, who lives in the States and is the owner of that site is on this board, so she might be able to help you regarding it's availability in the UK. I have seen it being sold on eBay UK from time to time. But I prefer to buy it direct using my Paypal account to pay for it. The service and delivery times are excellent!

But if you are wanting to pay by cheque, then I'd definitely keep my eye on eBay! It's usually in the artist bears section.

Hi Estelle,

I have to agree with Helena, as I've just received my first order from Stephanie at Sassy Bears, lovely to see you here on the board by the way Stephanie!!

I have just finished a miniature called Angel Gabriel from the Smokey Long Pile, ooooooh it's lovely fabric, I can't wait to use the rest!!   Take a look at Gabriel, he's on Bears for Sale, just look at those wings I bought from Stephanie too, they're BEEEEAAAAUUUUTIFUL!!!   :)

You've got to try it, ALL OF YOU!!!!

Hi Estelle,
the supplier I know of in the uk who seems to stock Stephanies long pile from time to time is on ebay her ebay id is melsbears1 - shop name Melanies little bear shop - you could also try bear country - different fabric but they do some mini microfibre, then there is emmary bears - not sure of their address but if you google they have a web site - there are others like Christie bears
Hope that helps

No idea why, but I've not been able to go to Sassy website.  Always get page not found error.  Do you have Sassy's email so that I can check with the webmaster?
