Well anyone who knows me well we know I'm not too keen on snow. Yes it looks really pretty but as anyone who has been caught out by snow (as I have in the past) will know that the pretty white stuff causes so much chaos for people. Great Britain is under a deluge of snow,we have had the biggest fall of snow in eighteen years here on this now white island. My son travelled into London yesterday by train which is usually a one hour journey, it took over three and a half hours. Once there David found that the buses were not running, many of the underground trains were not running or severally delayed and taxis were far and few apart. In fact most of London, our capital city had come almost to a standstill. David had travelled into London to go to rehearsals for the latest show he is in. He walked miles through the show only to find his rehearsals had been cancelled. Grrrr! Most of the other cast who live in London had not put the effort into getting to the theatre.
Today Britain is bracing itself for further disruption as fresh bands of snow sweep across parts of the country, causing trains and buses to be cancelled, and airports and schools to be closed. As well as heavy snow in many areas, there is a risk of widespread ice in London and south-east England as temperatures fell as low as -7C overnight. I never thought I would see people in London skiing or snowboarding through the streets to get to work. Well here's one woman that will not be going out today! Here are a few pictures.

Great pics Jane!
It sure is chilly here in Kent again today, but at least the sun has come out and as you say, it is very pretty! My daughter landed on her bum yesterday when she went to the postbox (she's got a lovely cheeky bruise!) and both my kids were sent home early from work, so they weren't complaining. They're both back at work today though. Like you, I have no intention of going anywhere - we've had even more snow since I took these pics, so I'll think I'll just admire it through my window instead of venturing out into the big chill! BRRRRRRR!!!!!
View from my bedroom window yesterday afternoon.
By early afternoon, all the neighbours' had returned home from work!
It is not too bad where I live in fact it has nearly all gone.I didn't think the snow that we had over the last few days was any worse than what we had recently. It is a nice bright sunny day too

I know how you feel, Jane. I am so tired of the snow and ice. I want spring. My cat has not been outside in so long that she is beginning to go stir crazy. She runs through the house like a mad man. I think I just might take a run with her.
UGH! I know you're sick of it but we haven't had any. A measly dusting last week. Send it my way will ya? I bought my kids a sled 4 years ago and we've yet to use it. They'll grow out of it soon!!!
My sister is off school today, but sadly, I have to go to work so I shall be risiking breaking my neck on the ice in an hour. it's stopped for today and is melting but i think the BBC says we are due for more tomorrow!
It was very sad to see my son in the garden trying desperately to gather enough to make a snowball, but there wasn't enough !!
Living in upstate NY, we get snow every winter. But this year we have really gotten our fill of it. One hour north of us they have received over 310 inches! And the groundhog  says 6 more weeks of winter! I could have told him that, in fact, I expect 8!
I told my husband that I am so tired of looking at white! Oh yes, it's beautiful especially when new and sugared on the branches of trees. But it has been so cold! It was 30 here and it felt warm.
Ahh, snow.....love the stuff, can't imagine living someplace where there is none. I do get tired of it after a while, but more the cold than the snow......
Lisa, if you want to go sledding, bring the kids up to visit, we have lots of the stuff!
and Jeanne, if you want cold, come up north 2 1/2 hours!!!!!!! 20 degrees feels warm for us, back to negative temps tonight and tomorrow! and I have to work both nights...............brrrrr.
jane, loved the pics.....the snow family is wonderful. I can't make a snow person at all, not one of my strong points.
Ellen
Listening to the news, and they are talking about London being snow bound! and record absenteeism of workers.
I love snow! We got a decent amount yesterday, and it was nice and fluffy.
This morning, the snow has gone down quite a bit, and is mostly ice.
Thankfully I only live a mile from work, so I walked yesterday and today. It was much nicer yesterday though. I didn't keep sliding everywhere.
I'm still amazed how bad we are at coping with snow. When I go skiing, the snow doesn't affect anyone, the roads are cleared and everyone can drive and get around as normal.
I took a couple of pics yesterday, but they are on my home computer. It looks really pretty from our back window, as we only look out onto fields. I'll put them up when I get home.
Hugs,
Kat
You poor guys I don't how you can cope. We don't get snow here but I can't stand the winter. we don't get as colds as you but to me its freezing. But on the other hand we are having a heat wave here in SA, so I defiantly am keeping warm LOL.
Ah Jane I know just how you feel. We have had a 46.5" record snow fall here in Wisconsin for December alone! :photo: It's beautiful but does create a lot of extra work and headaches.
Your last photo would be illegal here . No parking in the streets during the winter months. The plows need to get thru.
Well on the bright side, just think of all the calroies you'll burn shoveling snow!
Happy shoveling
Jane,Don't talk to me about snow. After this last ice/snow storm..was on the roof with a hairdryer thawing out the "dish" which was covered in almost two inches of solid ice. Mikki
* love the picture of the cow
Jane, sorry about all that snow, I saw it on the news, and to think there are no snow plows, I could not believe it. The kids are having fun, but not the adults that have to go to work. I hope it goes as fast as it came to you. Take care and stay inside.
I am realllyyy tired of winter! We have had so much snow, even the few crazy people that usually like it are tired of it! It has snowed almost every day in our area for the past month. It's mostly been cold too, so not much is melting. Spring can start now!!!! Please??
Hi Jane,
I understand your feeling of frustration with the snow, especially since it would make it impossible for you to get out! It's bad enough here (six more inches and our patio set will be completely buried!), where we have all the equipment to deal with the situation and the roads are actually sprayed with de-icer, BEFORE it actually snow, but I can't imagine living where they don't have the equipment to plow or remove it. I've been watching the news reports about England and it makes me shudder but hopefully, it won't last long. Keep warm, stay indoors and keep your fingers crossed that it will be gone in a few days. Here's a hug to warm you up
hugs,
Brenda
I just love those highland cattle, we got some pics of them when we were in the UK last year. They kinda look like a bovine version of my dog Ralph, don't know what it is but there is definitely a resemblance!
Poor old London not coping with the snow, while Melbourne's trains were at a standstill because the tracks were buckling in the heat!!
My daughter will be disappointed, she was desperately wishing for snow before she left Bath to come home for three months, it will probably be all gone by the time she gets back late this month.
Stay warm everyone, make lots of bears, that keeps you warm.
It's global warming!
The pictures are fantastic!!! Take and post more!
 Warm hugs!
I still can't believe how badly england copes with snow - horrified to see on the TV news so many people slipping down the steps outside one of the major train stations...........a bit of salt would have helped!
And JANE - you be CAREFUL! OK?
huggies
Maria
And.....Punxsutawney Phil, the Groundhog, says 6 more weeks of winter!

Seriously, take it easy in all this snow/ice/heat.....whatever weather you have. Spring is on it's way for the Northern Hemisphere....................
