Hi...I meant to put this on a week or so ago, but if you copy and paste the code below then add it to the bottom of you auction page on ebay (the html page) it will stop anyone being able to right click and steal your photos or your page...

<CENTER><head><script language="javascript"><!--
function right(ns_e) {
if (navigator.appName == 'Netscape' &&
(ns_e.which == 3 || ns_e.which == 2)) {
// display an error message
alert("Sorry you can't right click");
// return false so that the click event is not done
return false;
} else if (navigator.appName == 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' &&
(event.button == 2 || event.button == 3)) {
// basically the same steps for Internet Explorer
alert("Sorry you can't right click");
return false;
}
return true;
}
document.onmousedown=right;
document.onmouseup=right;
if (document.layers) {
window.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
}
if (document.layers) {
window.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEUP);
}
window.onmousedown=right;
window.onmouseup=right;
// -->
</script></head>

They will only get a message saying "sorry you can't right click"
Hope some of you might find it useful...  bear_original

Hi,
I don't want to be a party pooper  :bday: but I just wanted to make you aware that a no right click code won't prevent someone with a little html knowledge from stealing your pictures.

It WILL stop the 'right click' 'save picture as' thief,  BUT...if someone wants your picture, they'll simply go to the View Source.  I don't want to post the instructions so to speak here, but as I mentioned, an html savvy person can still easily get to the photo file.

Again, not to be a party pooper,  I just don't want you to be mislead into thinking the no right click script is the definitive answer for photo theft.

hugs,
nt

Can I just pop in to comment about "no right click".....
if you wanna use this, PLEASE don't use it on any links!

I am one of those people who opens every link in a new window -
& you gotta right click to do that. Getting a little dialogue box that
pops up & accuses me of attempted theft when I do this is really
really annoying.

a simple (c) & artist info or URL on the photo in a place where it
can't easily be cropped out, can be another option to prevent
theft.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents  bear_original

oops  :redface:   sorry everyone I should have explained it better when I posted this topic (I was in a hurry)
but the idea was just to stop those people who don't know that much or will look for an easier target and I agree with toadbriar (sorry don't know you name) please don't use it on links because I do the same!  :redface:
Its mainly just meant for auctions not webpages...
