Hi there,
Hubby and I will be moving on Friday and it will be 2 1/2 weeks until we get into our new house.  We are staying with our daughter and she has two cats.  We also have two cats - one is 14 and will stay with us at our daughters and will probably hidde in the bedroom for the two weeks.  The other is a scoundrel and our 2 1/2 year old grandson likes to let him in and out of our house when he visits.  We are worried Thumper will get out and we won't be able to find him, so we have decided to board him for the time inbetween, until we are actually in our house.  Does anyone have experience leaving cats in a kennel - how do they do?  This lady comes highly recommeded by our vet, so I'm not worried about his care.  He just has a nasty attitude now, so I can hardly wait to see what he's like after 2 1/2 weeks of "storage" LOL!  Our only concern is we've been told sometimes they refuse to eat, although we just bought 5 bags of Whiskas treats - he loves them and could probably survive on them!  Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

                                                hugs,

                                                 Brenda

Hi Brenda,

We have boarded our cats when we have gone away on holiday and they act a little funny
hide and sulk, while as my husband calls it at Cat Prison - but I will tell you something they are very
happy when we come and collect them and enjoy it when they get home.
I think a holiday is good for everyone.

Best of luck with the moving - I hope that everything goes well for you.

Hugs

Thanks for the post, Carolyn.  The lady who runs the Cats Craddle was really pleasant to chat with.  She says sometimes the ones that you think won't adjust, end up doing the best.  The ones that owners think will be fine, often end up having the most stress.  I think he will be okay.

Hi Brenda,

He will be fine.

I think that they are in the safest place and looked after very well and you know that they are not going to
escape or come to any harm.
As I said that they really appreciate you when they come back home and are reunited with their loving family.

Hugs

I may be too late to offer this..... I worked at a vets office for twelve years...we also boarded cats and dogs. The cats have their own "ward" where it is quiet and away from the dogs. Every day I would check the kitties one at a time....talk to each one and hand out blankets, toys, treats etc. If a food bowl was left untouched, I would put in two types of cat food and leave a note to leave food in at all times. The shy cats will eat at night when it is dark and quiet. We also taped a towel to the top of the kennel, to offer a privacy wall for the shy ones....kitties feel better when they can hide. All the people I worked with did the same. Most people who board cats, really love cats....so I wouldn't worry. I'm sure that good people will be caring for your kitty and watching out for his needs.
