I have an idea so I think I will be doing at least one prototype in plush to experiment 
The good thing with my prototypes there are at least a dozen kids wo fight over them to have them
Back Road BearsBron... were you thinking of the hoofs, errrr...trotters.... to be fabric or something like scupley clay?
Let me know if you want help either way. I've done moose with hoofs of fabric and can help with clay hoofs too!

How big are you planning? Where are you getting the bag pipes. You have a source for bear sized bagpipes please let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been wanting to make Dad a bear with pipes but have only found real mini ones or child sized ones.

Have you tried a Scottish/Celtic shop for novelty bagpipes - I've seen them in the celtic shops here - I could only find one shop in South Australia - and the ones on their site look pretty small but you could ask them if they have more.
