Hi you all!

I have read many discussion here on TT about where to buy the "best" fabric. But I wonder, If you have a very thin wallet, were do you find the CHEAPEST mohair or synthetic fabric?

Anyplace you can make great bargains?

The aussie Retailer Beary cheap has got a wide choice of synthetics for small prices, and same for mohairs.
Then it depends about how much you buy at the same time because of postage fees!

For mohair, you have a wide choice between, Beary Cheap, Gerry's, Intercal and Edinghburg. Up to you!
I cannot tell you which one offers the best prices. I guess it must depend on many factors.
You can find some synthetics too at BearCountry uk. Postage fees are cheap. their choice is not that big, though. It depends on what you are looking for.

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Gerrys also has some beautiful synthetics.
Sometimes you can get good bargains on eBay.
But more often then not you stumble on them by accident.

I too used to buy synthetics from Beary cheap.
They have bargain sale for every month.(I think.....)

Jenny,  can you shop at eBay ??
I've bought beautiful synthetics at eBay before.
but I noticed that most of those synthetics are usually
more thatn $11.00 for 1/4 size.
For $15.00 plus shipping fee, you can buy a 1/4 nice norton mohair
at Intercal (at bargain page↓).

Beary Cheap in Australia has some really pretty nice synthetics....and the prices seem reasonable

Intercal's the place to go for mill ends, bargains etc and they are ALWAYS updating and adding

The caveat i would offer is this:

When you buy cheap mohair sometimes you get cheap mohair and sometimes you get quality mohair inexpensively-so if the pocket book is tight and you are hangering for making a new pattern try making it out of other things,

upholstery velvety,

brocade remnents

drapery tapestry

velvet

an old quilt

There are many other things to use for bears whilst waiting for the right mohair....or a heftier pocketbook

Try your thrift stores-put the word out at church-place an add for old coats with or without fur and such!

remnents are great

Here's a great on-line store for fabric bargains:http://www.fabric.com/
