Just needed to vent, thought I'd come here.
Maybe learn a thing of two while I"m at it.
I'm sewing a bear, and it's making me crazy! I hand sew some parts, while machine sew the rest.
I've just turned my pieces right side out and you can see the stitches!! The ones from the machine and the ones done by hand.
My other bears don't do this. What happened here??
What would you guys do, would you leave it, re-sew it or cut it up? ( Sorry, couldn't resist LOL)
If anything, venting made me feel better. Wonder if I need to adjust something on my machine..........
Thanks for listening.........
Sounds like a tension problem. I leave it up to you to decide if I mean the machine, or uhhmm, you
Seriously tho, I think I'd have to fix it , it would bug me too much .
Awww Heather, sorry you've had a bad day!! Is the mohair a bit more sparse than you've used before?? Maybe that will make a difference?? Does the thread match well?? Dilu is BRILLIANT with sewing machine knowledge, but if it's happening with your hand sewing too..... sleep on it, everything will look better in the morning.........
Heather,
Check the weave of the backing. That could be your problem, a really loose weave. Try setting your stitch length to a very tight, short stitch and do one seam and see if that makes a difference. You could make it look like an old bear that has been repaired by doing criss cross stitches on the outside of the seams with thread that does not match. If it is just noticable on the snout, you could add color to the seams.
Don't let it make you nuts!
Bear Hugs,
Donna
Yep, I would do what Dilu suggests, if its a tension problem, just sew inside your other stitches. It's happened to me before when my hands were weak, stitches showed, so on another day I jsut resewed inside my old seam.
Dilu I've never used silk thread...will have to look into that. I do double up tho and that makes it so much easier!
xo sarah
Thanks guys
It's the next day and I feel better. I wonder if it is the backing then. It is different mohair than i normally use.
Or at least that's what I'm gonna tell myself. Guess I'll take a scrap piece and see if I can adjust properly.
Thanks for the support!
