Things have been moving right along with our addition project.......and I am quickly going bald......from way too much hair pulling!! For example, the shower we ordered and need right away is to take 4 weeks to get here. That muddied things considerably for the contractor as they have to leave an area where studs can be taken out to get the thing in the new bath. It's fiberglass and all one piece.......does not bend or travel well around corners!! 
And just now, I had Darren ask the contractor when he would be needing to get into our current bedroom to take out the window and frame that in for the drywall. Ha!! He's planning do this tomorrow morning!! 
AND, he's going to break through the wall (right next to my computer, so I might be without for a while 
) tomorrow as well, to make way for the french doors to our new bedroom. Well, thank goodness we asked, because we found all this out at 5:30 pm. We have to move the dressers out of our bedroom tonight and get a bookcase cleared of books and stuff and removed from the wall it's attached too plus a myriad of other things that must be cleared out of the way.......TONIGHT!! 
On top of it all, I have to leave here in the morning by 8:30 for doctors appointments, and I just know it's going to be tough to escape. ESCAPE.......that's what I need to do!! :crackup: :crackup: I had no idea at the start of this that the lack of privacy every day of the week would get to me so much!! I'm sure, though, it will all be worth it in the end.......unless I am bald from all the hair pulling.....that might put a damper on things! :crackup:
Anyway, here's some more recent pics of the project. The contractor has been out putting up siding today, and later this week we will have windows. The guys will also be coming to do the drywall in the new addition and also on the sunporch we are remodeling. And the plumbing and heating guys coming as well. Lots going on!! 
The house is now too long to fit in the frame of my camera unless I go across the road and stand in the bean field, so here's two pics, left and right, of the front of the house. We are working on some of the landscaping ourselves as well. Lots to go before we're done!

DoodlebearsTracy that looks so great. I wish I were having an extra room (or two) built on my home. I was fascinated to see the way things are built in Iowa, buildings are never constructed like that in England well not residential buildings anyway. We do not have a wooden frame or board walling. Our houses are built with two layers, one of what we call breeze blocks and the second (with a gap between the two layers) is brick. What will the final (outer) layer be made from? I can't wait to see the finished building and here about your new studio!

Jane--That is very interesting....the different methods of construction in England vs. Iowa. I truly never thought of that! It sounds like yours is much simpler! There will be an outer layer yet of vinyl siding on mine. The contracter started that yesterday, but can't finish until all the windows are in. There will also be two more layers of stuff on the inside yet. Thick, fluffy, fiberglass insulation between the wall studs.......for Iowa winter , brrrrrrr! And then sheetrock (drywall) over that to finish the walls. Since the drywall is going up soon, I imagine they will be putting in the insulation any day now as well.
I'll be sure to keep posting photos. This is exciting.....even if it is also causing me to lose my mind (and a little baldness 
)! I am glad I will be gone today while some of the tearing up is done in my house. Can't wait to see what's been done when I get home!

Jane, what are breeze blocks made of? They look like concrete, but from the photo, they also look pretty lightweight....maybe a lighter composite of something like tuffa rock???

One thing I have been known to do is paint, draw, whatever, the tyvek " fabric" roll it up on a piece of wire really tightly and then take it outside with the HEAT GUN and melt the daylights out of it...".and what do you have?" you might ask.....
Easy Breezy home made beads......think shrinky dink with a heat gun.....there are a gazillion other things as well....

Thanks Dilu for answering my question of "What the heck can you do with Tyvek?!" :hug: :hug: I got all excited and checked out the sites you listed, planning to go outside and claim any unused Tyveck. Then I found this (quote below) on one of the sites (the dollmaker one) 
Bummer for all of us as I was planning to share.........this is construction grade stuff on my house!
NOTE- None of the above pertains to construction grade Tyvek that you see being used on buildings. I am not advising you to use this product.
