MY RESIGNATION

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.

I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.

I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.

I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.

I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hotsummer's day.

I want to return to a time when life was simple, when all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.

I want to think the world is fair.

That everyone is honest and good.

I want to believe that anything is possible.

I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.

I want to live simple again.

I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.

I want to believe in the power of smiles bear_grin , hugs  , a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.  bear_innocent

So . . . here's my checkbook and my car keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements.
I am officially resigning from adulthood.

And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause........

"Tag! You're it."  :P

Ah..... if only!!

Oh, this is an occasional must.  The next time your running like crazy and in the rain and trying to get the groceries into the car just take one split second and splash your foot in a small puddle.  It's instant therapy with no negative side effects...it dries off bear_grin

My mother forwarded this Resignation email to me at just the right time......

I was feeling way too grown up trying to get the final details together for my first-show-as-promoter on Saturday!

You should see the gray hairs!!! But I've gotta admit, the anal, way-too-organized, loves-to-make-forms person inside of me is having a ball!

Daphne, I am crossing everthing I have that your show will be a huge hit.  Oh how I wish I could be there , but it just isn't meant to be this year.   I know you've had some wonderful ideas so it should be a great time.

I too want to resign from being an adult !!  Somedays I do just that and let go and act like a kid.  Ah the good old days

Tammy,
Wish you could be there too!

Wish EVERYONE could be there..... but then I'd have to have a bigger venue, more parking, reserve LOTS of hotel rooms, organize a TT convention, have 10 times as many forms..... but it'd all be worth it!!

my english setter hoover taught me more about the important things in life than i knew i had forgotten! he was sweet dog born compltetely deaf..we had him 12 years..and i would look over and catch him sitting staring at something and it was alwasy some silly setail ofthe day i had missed!  30 different species of birds bathing in the puddle outside..a pretty moth.. a deer sneaking thru the yard..
i agree thats what making bears is about ..staying a child inside and sharing that with our buyers!! so jump in the puddles play in the snow and daphne the show will be fine! its maine! its summer! we have bears!! see ya there! hugs deb

Thanks, Deb! I think it will be fine too! It's the getting there! bear_original The weather is going to be beautiful! Upper 70's, sunny.... a perfect day to buy a bear!  bear_thumb Everyone will be out!

Renae, I agree, life has NEVER been fair. I didn't write the Resignation... I hate lemonade and jumping in puddles! Give me snow angels anytime though! The visions that little story envoked were sweet and innocent and peaceful.... something I needed and just thought I'd share!

So, a question, one which some of your have answered....

what was your favorite activity as a kid?

I was a tomboy to the bone and played marbles with the neighborhood boys, rode bikes with all the kids and loved flashlight tag! In the winter we'd make tunnels under the snow. We got a lot more snow back then! And my best friend and I would make a tent in the back yard out of sheets and bring all of our stuffed animals out and make up plays with them. (OK, that was more than one activity! Sorry!)

Oooh, CLIMBING TREES!!!.  Mum was smart and stayed inside so she didn't have to see half the things my brother and I would get into....didn't work, though, we still gave her grey hair  bear_grin

AHHHH DITTO Daphne!

You know, it's never too late to have a happy childhood.

I play with my kids in the sand box and dirt, ride a bike( just got one actually). play Pooh Stix, go down water slides, and sleep with teddy bears!  I even play "tractors" with my 3 1/2 year old...that is, when I am "allowed" to touch them.

Acting goofy and silly and fun is the only way to be! Keeps you young! bear_thumb  bear_thumb  bear_thumb

Me too!  Total tomboy...my mom alway said she got "frogs and snails and puppy dog tails" with me
Most of my summers were spent catching tadpoles, water spiders, toads, salamanders, and anything else that we found in the creek. One summer I had so many tiny frogs on the back porch my mom was was boiling lettuce for them to eat   I wasn't allowed to climb trees after my best friend Tommy did a swan dive and broke his arm, but we just switched focus to building a fort.  One summer we ripped the wheels off of every baby doll stroller me and my sisters got at Christmas and used those wheels for our go carts. I've was never a girly girl; I was still in the creek while most girls my age were giggling boy crazy. bear_tongue

I'm like Renae, I would NOT like to go back to my childhood, it wasn't pleasant.
HOWEVER, I love the ideal of childhood and try to keep some childlike wonder alive in my life every day. I decided a few years ago that being grown-up was WAY over-rated. Better to be a little silly and young at heart than to be seriously dignified and wind up with heart disease from stress.
I used to love catching tadpoles and fireflies, climbing trees, exploring the woods behind our house, but most of all, I escaped into daydreams. I conquered kingdoms, discovered new continents, ran with wild mustangs, befriended dragons, talked with the animals and had the most amazing adventures.

So true!!

Daphne, I know your show will be wonderful, a huge success and full of people who are young at heart. It is a bear show after all. Have fun!

I think I'll go find a tree to climb! bear_flower

Play with all of my stuffed animals......that was my favorite childhood activity. I would line them up and marry them off.....some combinations were quite funny.......Ellen D (a duck) married John Jr. ( a monkey) and their baby was Pinky (an elephant!)

As my father always says, I may grow older, but I refuse to grow up!

Daphne & Deb, see you Saturday! Can't wait.....we are leaving on Thursday morning!

Don't cha hate that, Deb?
Apparently once you've uploaded it to the TT server once you can't do it again which means, if you didn't 'copy and paste' correctly there doesn't seem to be a way to get the copy & paste code back for that same photo.
HOWEVER, (and Quy will magically appear if I get this wrong bear_original ) I think that if you change the name of the file on your computer.... even just one character.... that you can then upload it again with the new file name and all will be well. bear_thumb

I know right where USA Inn is.... to get to the venue just head north on Route 1 and it will be about 2 1/2-3 miles up on your left. If you plan to go out for breakfast before the show I highly recommend "Congdons". I know, strange name, but delicious breakfast food!!! I'll have donuts from there as well as coffee & water for vendors during set up time in the morning.
