OK OK !! I just called , she picked up the phone and she was still talking to her family about dinner. Then she said hello. I said Margaret ? She said yes, I said hi this is Jodi Falk with Bears By jodi and I was just calling to to make sure I have the correct address because I am sending quite a lot of photos. Then I asked her if she had a few minutes. She said yes. I told her that us artists talk on line and we realized that the same lady called all of us . She laughed. I asked her where she got our information because we were just curious, she said she gets Teddy Bear and View and Teddy Bear and Friends. I have never heard of the first one have you? Oh !!!!!she must mean Teddy Bear Review !! Tee Hee   I said Ok, then I asked if she has been a collector long , and she laughed and said OH MY YES !!!! So I laughed. I told her that she wouldn't be hearing from all of us right away because some didn't have any pictures developed and some were printing off the computer and have ran out of ink , she said thats ok , she was not in a hurry . So Then I said ok and thanked her for her time.
I feel she just likes bears  sooooooooooooo I guess I will send my packet. CROSS your fingers !!!

Thanks Jodi!! She probably thinks were crazy now. I felt the only way she could have found out about us is the magazines. I'll make sure I print the pictures and send them out to her. Payday is tomorrow and I can then get ink for the printer!! Yeah!! If she is a big collector she doesn't have one of my teddy bears and she must want to add ours to her collection. Maybe she is going to buy a teddy from all three of us.

Daphane -  Look at it like this... She called three of us not ALL of us. That's a compliment!!! She picked out three artist from the magazines that she liked. Now think about that... How many artist in the teddy bear world is their?? LOTS!! So, I guess we should feel honored she pick us.  bear_original

I knew I shouldn't have been so cynical. Shame on me.
OK, I'll pick up photo paper while I'm out in the morning.

Wonder how many other artists she contacted that just aren't on TT???

I'm glad she turned out to be okay. Although I guess now I can forget about my steak burrito and put my binoculars back in the closet.  bear_laugh

BE VERY CAUTIOUS, LADIES!!!  This very same lady has harassed me for years with this request.  The first time she called me, I naively sent a bunch of photos, following her directions for labeling and including bus. card, etc.  She will tell you she can't give out her phone # for various reasons, she tells you when her birthday is (I had two calls from her on our message machine when we got home tonight from Alaska) which is 1964, talks like she's ending the conversation, then keeps coming back with inane stuff.  The next time she called me, she wanted a catalog, so I told her that I didn't have one, but would send her my brochure.  After a few weeks, she calls back and says she DOESN'T want a brochure, she wants PHOTOS.  She does call me every few months to make the same request and I've finally started telling her that I only have a digital camera and all my photos are on my computer (which, of course, she doesn't have).  I told her that about a month ago when she called and she just hung up.  Then she calls twice while I'm gone and gives me all this info, instructing me how to send the photos and what to include with them.  Folks, I think the butter has slipped on her bisquit.  Don't be surprised if she phones you multiple times.  I just ignore her requests now, but it certainly doesn't prevent her from calling.  Just my experience with Margaret Daniel from Swansea.

Sue Ann,

OH NO!!!! I HAVE  had calls from this lady before !!!! Now that you describe her. I thought her voice sounded familiar, but she was not as crazy sounding this time , so I thought maybe I was crazy !! Oh dear !! What a delime !!!! Yes she tells you when her birthday is and that you can send her a birthday card and then it sounds like she is done and she comes back with something else , I thought she was crazy before. But she always left a message. This is the first time I have talked to her in person. Well I have her phone # now , so if she starts bugging us I will call her and tell her we are sending the teddy police   I have never sent photos yet because I thought  " HOLY COW ! I don't want to get messed up with this one "!!! Sorry ladies, I did not realize that this lady was my crazy lady . She has called me 2 times in the last 2 years, but like I said this time I talked to her. And she doesn't carry a conversation very well when you talk to her in person , so that is why none of us got any informayton. When I called her she only answered my questions , she did not continue talking like most people do . ummmmmmmmmmm I thought it was because I caught her thinking about dinner and I know she was trying to figure out how I got her number. Well if she bugs us we could always start calling her and say " Well which one are you going to buy? I will send you a bill !!!" And tell her we want a birthday card and she can send us a Christmas card and............. SORRY !! You would have to hear her voice to understand this !!! She goes on and on about for 3 minutes ... WAY... longer than needed. I AM NOT SENDING PICTURES !!! Now I know why I had a bad feeling at first !! Bless her heart !! I hate to be mean but .... yes her butter has slipped off her bisquit !! I will pray for her instead and for me because I am to scared to send her some and I hate to hurt peoples feelings .  OH Ladies , what are you going to do now , I am holding off till I hear what you all are going to do .  Sus Ann .... has she ever bought anything ???

Perhaps I should have gone with my first instincts after all!
Good grief! Hate being this way.
But to be selfish, as stated, I really don't have time for getting paper and printing photos, etc.
She said very little to me on the phone. Just seemed a bit disturbed that she had to wait for me to come in from the garage when I'd picked up the phone so I could write her info down. Never heard about her birthday but then, as she wasn't saying much, I took control of the conversation and made it a quick one.

Sue Ann,
WELCOME HOME!!!!!

And you came home in the knick of time! Thanks for saving us from Mrs. D!!!!!!

This is perhaps a good example of why NOT to put your phone number on your ad's.

Frightening!!!

I just read Sue Ann's post and if Margaret Daniel's calls me again I'm telling her I don't send out pictures, magazines's etc..  Birthday? What's the deal with the Birthday?? Yeah, her butter did slide off her biscuit and her cornbread, toast, and... Ha! Ha!

Sue Ann, I'm glad you read this post!! I'm sure we can all say thank you for saving us from wasting our time, ink, money, etc..

Looking at the bright side of things... we have each other to help look out for one another!!!

Daphne, I love your dog!! What a sweet face! I can tell your dog is your baby!!!!

Well, I hope I helped with your decisions to send photos or not to send.  She is definitely - um - quirky, to say the least.  She's never bought anything from me, but did ask if I had lay-a-way in this last call I got from her.  Hmmmm - maybe she will show up at Schaumburg in Oct.  Thanks much for the welcome home - I hope to get pictures up soon.

I don't know how to do that.... I think I'd need PenPen for that but I don't where she's disappeared to! bear_cry

Daph, you can make an animation yourself if you have a program that does so -- like Photoshop's IMAGE READY and, I feel certain, many other programs ... probably including shareware you can get for free on the web.  It's pretty darn simple to figure out .gif animations on your own, esp. for someone like you who's done web programming and has a tech side and some understanding of computer workings, etc.

This type of animation (.gif animation, rather than FLASH animation, which is totally different) is just a series of photos, placed one to a layer, within a single file, and then saved in .gif form by an animation program.

This layer thing is also how you would construct a complex image like a logo or graphic; it's done in layers with, for example, the photo on one layer... the text on a second layer... the background on a third layer.  But the difference is that, for an animation (vs. a static image), at the end of the design process, you don't "flatten and merge" those layers like you would if you wanted to end up with a single, static image.  Instead of flattening and merging those layers, you'd allow the animation program to CYCLE THRU those layers, one at a time, instead.  This creates a slideshow effect.

The same principle applies if you want to animate text, changing out its color or moving it, etc.  You just create a new layer for each step in the animation process.  Think "stop motion" or "claymation" processes and you'll get the idea immediately.

Anyway, just thought I'd point out that this is really a do-it-yourself job if you've got the right program and a little bit of time to sift thru the learning curve.

Actually, what you've said makes sense! It's just that I'm not good with the layer thing. Yes, it's how I create my graphics but it just sorta happens.... I don't know what a raster layer is from a vector, I just let the program choose which ever for me and if for some reason I have to choose the layer type and get it wronge it tells me I need to change to the other kind of layer so I never think about it. Guess I need to pay attention!

I have saved your tutorial into my "Graphics How To" file!!!

Thanks, Shelli!

Don't feel bad Jodi...

I read all these "technical" posts (with great interest) which really aren't technical and my eyes say...Oh yeah, that makes sense...and my brain says BLAH BLAH BLAH...like the teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoons.

That's what my mother sounded like when I was a kid and I think I sound like that now to hubby most of the time.
