okay ..i made another of those spur of the moment yard sale purchases at our fav harvest fair this past weekend ( underhill vt harvest market great fun!) and i want to know who else has done stuff this NUTS!! fess up! whats your wackiest purchase?! i bought a box of banners..red white and blue..so i thought,,i got them home
and while iwas explaining this to my ever patient dh ( who loves me because im nuts!) i started pulling them out of the box,and pulling and pulling...kinda like that magicians trick....turns out there are TWO banners about 150 feet long!!! hmmm...i can wrap the house in them!! any maybe i will! :):) deb
Deb: I love a good bargin like the next person...Craziest purchase?...I can think of several....but the one my family still talks about is a three foot tall porcelain cat with hand painted strawberries on her. She has great big green eyes and has a smile on her face. It was signed "made in Italy". Well, a signed "Made In Italy" sounded important to me (I was young) so I bought her. I placed her smack dab in the middle of the house where I could she her from all parts of the house. Everybody who saw her either had no comment (casual friends) to outright "oh-my-God- what-were-you-thinking" (family). So to this day, I am the only one who really (I mean really) loves that cat. Twenty years later, She is now in my bedroom, elevated on a shelf where I can enjoy her all the time...

Crazy purchases? For me, it's not that they're crazy purchases. It's the amount of purchases that is crazy. I have 145 vintage childrens outfits hanging in a guestroom closet. 145!!
That's a bunch to start with, right? Let's see....Then there are all the outfits in drawers, cabinets, on shelves, in a heap on the floor waiting for repair, in a bin in the laundryroom waiting for an Oxy soak, etc. I have probably have enough dresses alone to dress girly bears everyday for a year. Now THAT is crazy.
And I keep buying more because "It's such a great price! I'll never be able to buy it at that price again." Which, I won't. Have you seen the prices for victorian childrens wear lately?
You see, this is the conversation I have with myself all the time.
Warmest, dressed in vintage white dresses, bear hugs,

This little guy was a crazy purchase because of what I paid for him (funnily enough his much bigger friend was a wonderful bargain in comparison!) ... way too much ... what was I thinking?!! He is a genuine 1930's Chiltern Hugmee though and I do love them. I bought him several years ago when I must have had a lot less sense than I have now.
Michelle i would hate to tell you how many things are sitting around my house because they spoke to me alone! especially those silly animal vases! my husband just rolls his eyes! cute avatar! no website? paula i love thumper and rags and hey they look like great purchases to me! that little guy has a great face! but his buddy is awfully sweet too! and aleta i want bippity boppity boo!! boo hoo! he is precious! i know what you mean about the kids clothes! wow are they pricey! your website is exactly the vibtage look i love! and they are all worth the closet space! my dh and i are very dangerous together at an auction! you would not believe what we have lugged home! plus i love to do silk florals in odd containers! this was fun! hugs deb
Deb: you are a hoot!! It sounds like you have a lot of fun with your buys. As do I....Who cares what others think...Enjoy the fun things in life....animal vases and all....Right?
Aleta: I don't think you are crazy. I agree with you, buy, buy buy...you never know if you will ever come across your precious things again...One can't have too many victorian dresses I believe....
Now Renae: one can't have too many hats either....or purses ... or shoes...yes definitely shoes....
