With all of this talk about eBay scams I decided to take a spin around some ebay sites out there.  I think ALL artists should check out ebay CHINA.  There seems to be one ebay ID out there that is listing a bunch of bears (acid attic, ed spencer, sylvia humphrey, mary holstad to name a few) and all the write ups claim this person is the artist "made by me".  This ebay ID has a "0" next to the name.
Now I can't read Chinese so I just typed artist bear in the top search box area....these all came up.

I sent an email to Marion about her Vincent bear....he stood out for me because I just loved him and knew he just sold.  Secondary re-sells are fine, but this listing is claiming artistry and creation, so it seemed fishy to me.

I think watermarking and encrypting photos is a "need be" at this point.

Oh my gosh - I've just had a look....that HAS to be a scam surely?

Now we all know Marion on here and all know that she is FRENCH not CHINESE!!!!!

Like I told you in my mail, I have reported the fake auction to ebay so hopefully it will be removed soon.
Little Vincent has just arrived today to his new home in US so no secondary market from China possible.

it seems that they only target the ones that don't have any "copyright" message or watermark on the photos.  I've been adding a note on all of my ebay photos" for sale on ebay by ........"  in hopes of preventing them from stealing mine.  It can be removed , but I don't think they are interested in taking the time to edit photos.
I can't believe these people can live with themselves .

I know that when the real artist sends a fraudulent auction report to eBay along with a link for the REAL auction that was stolen.... eBay can pull these things fairly quickly.  Honestly, I doubt that there are TOO many collectors that fall for his scam... I mean, even  one would certainly be too many in my book, but all in all I think that most collectors are a pretty savy bunch.  I think that the wording that many of us are using on our auctions warning collectors of this practice, plus those who watermark their pics, etc.... are doing quite a bit to kind of get the word out there ...

How REALLY awful and deceitful though!!!!!  I've had that done to a couple of my bears before too and it's always made me MAD as HECK!

I've offered before, and I'll certainly offer again... Here's exactly the wording I use on my actions.....  Anyone who wants to use it word for word... or change it how ever it suits you... PLEASE, feel free to do so....

Oh no!! How do I report that my auction is listed on Ebay China and how do I put writing on my pictures so they cannot be used?

Shari,
     I add my text through my photo program - Corel Photo Album 6.  Check your photo program to see if you can add text with it.  I used to put the writing at the bottom where it didn't interfere with the picture of the bear, but now I just put it right on the photo of the bear as I think it makes it harder to remove and they can't crop it off.

Good morning, friends.
Ebay told me that the sellers ID have been cancelled due to other infractions.
They say that if it was not the case, they couldn't have done anything if there is no logo on the pictures as they check if a logo has been  copied. I'm going to add my logo and text on all pictures now, for sure !
Do you think it's necessary to put such things on the pictures on our personal websites too ?
