For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
HI all,
I have just seen that Ebay UK seems to have a new category for artist bears, they now have a OOAK category and if you list in this one your bear will also appear in Ebay.com artist bears OOAK... I know we raised this topic a while back and at that point there was only artist bears other on the UK site, so this seems much better.

Thanks Catherine if this is so it could save me having to list in twice and pay double fees. Hope its right. Cheers.
well, it certainly worked for the bear (Timmy) that I'm listing at the moment -

I used artist bear in the title too - I hope it works for you - would be fantastic not to have to pay double
Great news! My US collectors are saying that it's difficult to find my bears as they are only in the UK eBay.....this will be a godsend for me!
I've just changed my listing to be in the OOAK category but it's not showing up on the US eBay......
Gemma it is probably because you need to select 'worldwide' in the posting section...
I note also that they have a section for 'bear making supplies'...that's new too I think....
Hooray for Ebay..about time too!!!
I hope they do the same over here in Australia too!!!
Jenny, I think you're correct - I can't believe I've not clicked 'worldwide'!!! No wonder my US buyers were having difficulty locating the flaming auction!!! It won't let me change it now - I think it's because someone has bid on it!
Oooops....oh well Gemma...next time 'eh?
I think it's great though that they have done it...about time too. Now all we need is for Paypal to let us offer the 'Paypal credit' scheme like they have on ebay.com and we'll be cooking on gas!! I wrote to Paypal asking about it and they said they have no immediate plans for the UK. I feel really brassed off about it as we pay the same fees...we sell in the same arena as the rest of the world yet we can't offer the same to customers. Not fair...not fair at all..because it's obvious to me that if you have to pay for my bear straightaway in one hit then maybe it's going to peg my auction price down...or even stop someone from bidding.
But if the buyers can opt to take 3 months to pay at no cost to me that's going to give my auctions a headstart. I am not griping at artists here...I just think we should have a level playing field if we are going to be able to post on Ebay worldwide we should all be able to offer the same deal to customers.
At least Ebay are now seeing sense because prior to this new section we had a jumble of bears which meant we end up posting on .com...so well done to Ebay..common sense at long last.
Wow, I've never heard of PayPal credit before....sounds great!
Me either Gemma...can someone fill us in...What is it???
If you accept Paypal payments on an ebay sale you can offer the buyer a way to pay over 3 months through Paypal. If they pay within 3 months the buyer gets interest free credit. It doesn't cost the seller any more than the usual Paypal fee and the seller gets the money instantly.
This option is not available outside the USA yet. I did, as I said earlier, write to paypal because I think it's a good plan and something which encourages bids. That said people will only buy bears if they like them no matter what, but I do think it should be available to all who sell on ebay because then everyone can offer the buyers the same option should they wish to take it up.
As it stands only sellers in the United States can offer this option to bidders..and this I think is wrong because we pay the same fees and sell to the same customers yet paypal say they have no immediate plans to extend the facility.
I don't think that is fair..because for me to do the same I'd have to forego collecting my money for 3 months at my own expense...so it's clearly a disadvantage. Somebody tell me if I've got it wrong but I don't think I have.
