I have just smashed my son's table that he has had since he was a baby. I was trying to tidy up in the lounge when someone rang the doorbell. I turned to quickly and lost my balance and fell smack on top of the table breaking it completely. I have a balance problem and I can fall much easier than the average person. I don't know who was at the door because by the time I had got up they had long since gone. I've scraped skin from off of my chin, grazed my chest and the palms of my hands are burning like crazy. I'm so upset as the table was part of David's history and a really useful piece of furniture too. Groaning over...sorry but I just needed to have a moan. Plus I've got a few boo, boos!  bear_cry

Oh Jane, I'm sorry you had such a fall!  I hope you are okay.  Take it easy today, as I'm sure more bruises will pop out as the day progresses.   Things also stiffen up later on, so you may be more sore tomorrow.  Minor accidents can be awful.  Maybe a hot bath would make you feel better, but don't use bubbles or anything or it will likely sting.  Take care and get some chocolate as soon as you can, coupled with a nice hot cup of tea.

It's a shame about your son's table, but the older I get the more I am learning not to be so attached to things.  Is it really beyond repair?  Maybe you can have another look when you're feeling better.  Take care of yourself first.

                                                         hugs,

                                                         Brenda

Oh Jane, I am so sorry. Your son will understand - might be a good thing that the person at the door went - they may have heard the thump when you landed    Just kidding - No I mean you mightn't been in the right state of mind to have a visitor.

Stop being so hard on yourself woman!!!!

Awww honey, you gotta take care of yourself,

I am sorry about you getting hurt....and your little heartache over the loss of the table.....Its sad when special things like this break and we can't keep them....but you still have David, and that's the important part.

Oh Jane, that sound painful....Hope you feel better soon. It is amazing what people can do to repair funiture. Since the table means so much to you, there is somebody out there who can fix it even if there are broken pieces. When I moved to Minnesota, I had a turn of the century tea cart. When it arrived, the leg was broken off and was a mess. I found a restorer- person to fix it and it is back to it's beautiful self....

take care

Michelle

OUCH!!

Jane, I hope you're not too bruised up, you poor thing!  That sounds like it was a nasty, nasty fall.  I'll bet too that you can find someone to fix David's table, even if it does seem unrepairable.  There are woodworkers and restorers that can perform miracles.

Take care of yourself.........that's an order!

Jane........firstly take more water with it and secondly turn the remaining pieces of the table into a nice photoframe to put a pic of David in. Recycle Recycle Recycle.

You better look after yourself young lady i know all about your escapades remember? Trouble is that you forget and it's easily done........but no more table dancing OK??????

Oh my, Jane . . . I do hope you're feeling better and aren't in too much pain.  So sorry about the table and I know that breaking it makes you feel so much worse emotionally.  I do hope that it can be repaired.  Take good care, my friend.

Thanks for all your lovely messages everyone!
I'm sorry to say that the table is ruined completely and has been gotten rid of. David was not bothered about the table but very concerned about me. I have a huge scab forming on my chin and a few bruises appearing on my ribs. I never found out who had rang the doorbell and proberbly never will.

Oh well as Penny said

firstly take more water with it

Yep, I'll double up on my water as that's what I drink.  bear_grin  bear_grin  bear_grin  bear_grin

Hugs Jane.

Aw Jane!  bear_sad  I hope you are okay and I'm sorry about the table. I hate losing something like that that has a lot of sentimental value.  big hugs to you.
I hope your boo-boos aren't too bad. Remember how our moms kissed our boo-boos better when we were kids? My prescription for grown-up boo-boo is ~drumroll~  chocolate kisses! Take as many as needed along with a large dose of good vibes from your friends here a TT. bear_flower
