I have not posted in awhile due to health issues and trying to get bears done for christmas....bu want to know why you make bears and or critters? For me I love to be creative and the challenge and there is some many things you can do in making them. How about the rest of you out there...

I make bears coz I have to!!!!! Its a need to, have to make and create. and I love it too, its my passion and excitement in life 
And I love cutsie little bubby bear faces

I like to make bears because it is so much fun - starting off with a piece of mohair and what
it can turn into.
Seeing the bears face take shape is lovely.
Also the joy and happiness that a bear can bring to someone.

I make bears because I just love it!!!! I've always loved to be creative and I am always astounded at the little critters that emerge from a piece of mohair...how many different bears can there be!!! They seem to have a will of their own somehow and never allow me to create what I want... it all just fascinates me!!!

I got into bearmaking because I love teddy bears and I love taking fabric and seeing what it comes out to be when I finish.

Why do I make bears? It's the joy of being creative and making something with my hands. Giving them away to my family and friends for presents gives me just as much joy.

Why do I make bears ?
I started because I love teddy bears
since I was little but these day, I lost my control and bears are MAKING me to create them. terrible....

Nobody else in my family understands it...I had no interest in bears till January when I made my first bear - I didn't realise that Artist Bears even existed and I had never liked manufactured bears....the rest, as they say, is history!!! :dance:
Flying Fur StudiosI make bears because I must create. I have a very uncreative IT job, so in order to stay sane, I must do something creative in my free time. Bears are perfect because THEY ARE SOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!
i also love watching the personality emerge, and the look on someones face when they see the bear.
......because if I don't get these ideas and critters out of my head, I'll go mad! 
What I need is a team of seamstresses to do all the sewing and stuffing so I can work on design concepts and patterns and then work on putting it all together myself. That's in a perfect world....and the day I stop being a control freak!

As for me, I make them because I love them. I love the personality I can get into each of my little bears, and I love seeing my work evolving!

I've always done artsy, crafty things and absolutely love fabrics.......used to sew clothing as well. Tried many things, but nothing ever stuck with me long. I always got bored and wanted to do something else. But teddies........I will never get bored with bears! I started making them as Christmas gifts one year, and have been hooked since. I love the mohair and natural fur......the feel of them is so wonderful.......and also the thrill of creating a personality in bear form. That being said, my favorite part of making a bear is the shading when the bear seems to come to life in front of my eyes. 
Is this a sickness?! :crackup: If so, I like it!
