I just did something and now I am wondering if it was a good idea. After all the talk about ebay and trying new things , I decided to try listing my newest bear on my website. The difference is I'm running it as a Private/Silent auction. Kind of the like the ' Submit best Offer" idea from ebay with a starting price. What do you all think ??? Is this stupid ??
I don't often offer bears on my website because I hate the fact that not everyone gets an equal chance. Not all of my contacts read the email at the same time so I feel bad for those that may miss out.- hey I'm a people pleaser . After all , my bears are in SUCH high demand    . I thought by doing an auction everyone gets to see it and has 2 days to think about it. Do you think people will like the annonymity of the bidding or will it be a deterant ???
Any thoughts are appreciated.- That includes you collectors that are lurking
Sounds like a good idea, hope it works for you, let us know if it does won't you..
I think it's a brilliant idea Tammy....let us know how it goes!!!
I think it's a cool idea, I remember reading about your silent auction in the showcase section.
The only problem I see, is trust. I'm not sure if i would bid on a silent auction just on a website, with soo many scams and trust issues.
But if your collectors already know and trust you, it's a great idea!
Thanks for the thumbs up gals.
Heather, that is one of my concerns too. I thought people may wondering if I was lying about the current bid if I posted that. You know, like the concern with private listing on ebay- getting friends to inflate the price for you. That's why I decided to make it silent. Then that creates other issues- if people bid and I don't show the price how do they know I'm selling it to the actual high bidder - maybe I'm picking a favorite collector over the high bidder.
See, that's why I'm having second thought. I know in my heart I'll be honest, and I hope my collectors trust me. I just wanted to offer a fair way for everyone to see and bid on the bear. Maybe no one will want it anyway
It will be interesting to see what other think too.
Although Tammy, I don't see any harm in trying. If I were you, I would go ahead with it. Can't hurt.
I think it's a good idea and I'm curious how it will do.
