It is horrible news. We have a person who has murdered five young women here in England, in the Ipswich area. Yesterday two bodies were found fairly close together, that makes five in ten days. These girls were probably prostitutes but they did not deserve to be taken like this. I hope that this man does not strike again before the police can catch him. Please pray for the families of these young women at this terrible time.

Hugs Jane.

My heart certainly goes out to the families.
It's been annoying me, how the news has been saying 'prostitutes dead/killed' in t.v and in news headlines. These are girls, people first and foremost. One family didn't even know their daughter had been prositituting, what an awful way to find out.
I'd be so afraid for my daughter and her friends, if we lived in/near Ipswich or Suffolk. I'm praying they catch the murder(s) soon, before he strikes again.

It's just terrible. I saw the news flash yesterday about the 2 more bodies found.  bear_cry  bear_sad

When the first 2 had been found I said to my other half 'that's horrendous - I hope whoever did it isn't trying to do a Jack the Ripper'.....unfortunately it looks that way.

The same type of thing happened in Atlantic City, NJ a couple of weeks ago.  4 young women were found murdered and it was more prominent in the news that they were believed prostitutes.  I'd prefer that they stick to the confirmed fact that someone brutally murdered these women and leave the "catchy" headlines to weather and traffic reports.  The News is beyond tactless anymore.

I agree, I don't care what kind of 'work' a woman does...they are still women and murder is murder  bear_angry Never excusable!!!  bear_angry

And honestly, why don't these wackos start killing the men that use these types of 'services'?  Takes two to tango, and I've never heard about a 'holier than thou' attacking the men that visit these types of girls.... Sorry I'll get off my soapbox now...But yes, this labelling them prostitutes just turns them into 'things' ...or that they 'brought this on themselves'  bear_angry for shame!!!!  No woman ever deserves to be murdered ~ ever!

It's very sad.  I grew up in Leeds during the time of 'the Yorkshire Ripper' - and he started with prostitutes, but didn't end there. I always felt very uncomfortable about the way it was reported differently once the women were seen as 'innocent' victims, as opposed to prostitutes. But that was a long time ago and things do seem to have changed as the TV news anyway has been very sympathetic, I think. I'll never forget the climate of fear I grew up in though (carried a knife everywhere for years as did all my young friends), and I was walking alone, only a couple of weeks before the last murder, in the very place where Sutcliffe killed his final victim (which to anyone local, was absolutely on the university campus so no question he 'mistook' her for a prostiture, although that was implied, later). I hate it that other young women have to live in fear. As we said at the time, 20 odd years ago - maybe it's time to curfew men. Or provide safe environments for the girls to work.

I saw this story on the news last night. A very similar thing happened in our city a couple of years ago. It became personal for us when one of the women murdered was the former girlfriend of my husband's friend and the mother of his child. She had tried to straighten out her life for a while when she was with him but the call of the street and the drugs was too much for her. I often wondered if the story would have garnered more sympathy if the victim hadn't been an 'addict and hooker' as the news referred to her and had been described as 'Robin's Mother'. So sad. I hope they catch this person soon.

Its awful to think how easy he is finding it to kill those poor poor girls.
I hope and pray he stops now.

I am sick to death of the 'Prostitute' angle...........this guy is a nutter and probably would'nt care if he 'accidently' murdered a non-working girl anyway. I suppose the newspapers just like the juicy angle.

The poor poor families.

I can not get over how labels are put on people that do differnt things or do not fit into the place they live. To adevertise that those girls are hookers are so not nessasary and someone posted they are sisters, mothers and friends. But any thing to sell papers. It makes me soo made. We are all the same under the clothes and we came into to this world the same and will go out the same. No differnt to any one. Sorry to ramble.
