My son David (21) is studying the performing arts. Last night my husband and I went to see the first of three performances in which the whole of the company are performing. David and seven others performed as Arlecchino in a 'Commedia Dell’arte'. It was hillarious, I laughed so much. The finale, in which seven of them were acting the Nativity in the most unusuall way, was a really funny play where everything went wrong. The actors were supposed to be really bad at performing. When baby Jesus was born they had a cloth held so you could only see Mary's face and they were using a sink plunger to delivery the baby. The facial expressions of Mary were so funny. The whole show was amazing, I wish you all could have seen it.
For those who do not know the term:
Commedia dell'arte it is (Italian: "play of professional artists" also interpreted as "comedy of humors"), also known as Extemporal Comedy, was a popular form of improvisational theater which began in Italy in the 16th century.
Hugs Jane.
