The hubs has infomed me that he is going on the Nutrisystem diet this week, as soon as it gets here.

This diet, for out of country ladies, is a pre-determined eating plan where you eat only their food---it comes in the mail and yuck! doesn't it sound lovely?

He says he wants to be [INVALID] in a bikini in a size 2.  Oh wait!  That's the skinny little thing in the commercials.

But here's the deal, he is having self discipline problems, and if I want to support him I can't have any of my goodies...

Now is Nutella a goodie or a staple of life?  Well you know what I think!

Its only for 5 months- he wants to loose 40 lbs...  I can last 5 months right?

wasting away.....I can see it now, I'll loose the weight, and I don't need to, well ok ten pounds, and he wont and so he'll want to stay on it longer......

But you all know me, I can't complain without finding something to be positive and grateful about; surly you have guessed?

I don't have to cook for 5 months!!!!!

Wooohoooo...I am perfectly happy with a can of soup or a yougurt.....

I might like this diet.... with Nutella hidden in the underware drawer......

I'll keep you posted on how well he does and if i am able to support him or have to hide in the bedroom snarfing down chocolate out of a misguided deprived feeling...

I think your right , give him lots of support but keep a cupboard full of chocolates for when he's not looking. bear_grin

Oh goodness, I hide chocolate from Paul all the time.  He doesn't need the temptation and I don't want to share!  Good luck, Dilu!!

HA!

Dilu... I HOPE you'll be "cheating" on your Nutrisystem plan while hubster sticks to it diligently because, of course, it's a calorie restricted plan.  Last time I checked you didn't exactly look like a gal who needs to drop 40 pounds, sister!  So please supplement your meals with some extra calories so that you're taking in a "normal" amount for your height, age, and health.  I don't want you to BLOW down for a visit to Chico someday, caught by the wind!!!

As a bit of Hollywood trivia... If memory serves (and it doesn't always), think I once read that Nutrisystem is the diet plan Jennifer Aniston used, to lose 30 or 40 pounds when she was a young actress first arrived in Hollywood and having trouble getting work.  Her father, soap actor John Aniston, used to tell her she had a typical Greek butt -- "an ass you could serve food" from.  The lovely Ms. Aniston nowadays keeps her shape on The Zone Diet.

I've been tempted by the Nutri-System diet myself. In fact, as I read your post, Dilu there was a commercial on TV for it! Hmmm....

The major draw for me is the not having to cook or grocery shop part! bear_original What can I say??? Loosing weight would be the bonus!

I would have to go to the grocery store for chocolate and peanut butter though! I'll have to be sure the new house has lots of closet space... a walk in even... I can bring my laptop in and eat chocolate in the dark while I chat on the TT Annonymous forum!

Dilu.... you will hide your chocolate but at the same time can support and encourage him. You go girl!! And go Rick!!!

We have plans like that in Australia too.  I was really tempted as I need to lose some weight but in the end I thought it would be better to moderate so I can learn how to keep the weight off myself and set a good example for the girls.  Its working too.I have lost 15kg  Still have quite a few to go but I'm getting there.
Ah yes do keep a stash somewhere for yourself especially seeings you don't NEED to lose weight Dilu.

Bronwen: I'm with you on this diet thing. I use to be heavy and tried every diet there is. One day I decided "if I'm going to be a heavy person, than I am going to be a happy heavy person". I promptly threw out my scale, ate what I wanted and found that liberating. I found that since I am eating without guilt, I made better choices on food. For instance, instead of a hamburger for lunch, I chose chicken. I lost maybe a pound a month, but guess what, after two years, I lost 35 lbs. I wasn't trying. I did not think of myself on a diet. The key is to make better choices and eat that cake if you want, just eat a lighter dinner or something. I lost the weight and did not suffer by doing it. Well it worked for me. I still don't have a scale. I was a slave to it...now I'm not. Oh... the best part, I have kept this weight off now for over 18 years....

Duli: if your hubby feels this diet is what he wants, that is great news but keep your stash of chocolates and wish him well.

Dilu,

I wish you and your hubs luck.  The idea of no grocery shopping and cooking sounds great (although my DH cooks so can't complain).   I agree that chocolate is definitely a staple of life, not just a goodie.  If your hubby catches you eating chocolate, you can always blame those naughty gollies!

Im not going to do the nutrisweet thing-just him.....

I will be quite pleased to eat soup or a salad....nope I don't need to loose 40 lbs....or 30...or 20....I could loose 10...but to do that I'd have to cut out the chocolat.

And I'll tell you something, can't cut out the chocolat....don't need much.....just a taste a little daily

He used to be able to loose weight so easily...but the older he gets the harder it is...poor baby

I can hardly wait

Sue Ann, I hide it he finds it so I hide it again....its a joke around here....sometimes i forget where I hide it.....its a challenge for him.....

When the picture to the left there was taken a year or so ago, I weighed about 35 lbs more than I do now. Mind you I've had a total of 100 lbs to lose, but all it took for the first third to go was replacing 2 knees!!!
Lovely things, pain killers... Appetite drops off the edge and smaller portions are more than enough.

But I've discovered that keeping it off has been E-Z. And I can now eat almost anything!
D_ _ _ it, all it takes is a committment to MOVING your body!

Frankly I'm afraid of ending up in a wheelchair like my neighbor needs, after his 2 new hips and no exercise. So the motivation is strong and I do therapy or work out every day.
I   H A T E  having to admit that the things we've always been told are the secret: moderation, eat well and MOVE!

Duh! Nutella a goodie? Choccies are goodies?
Since when?
That´s all essentiell food!
Dilu, could your hubby live with the fact, that due to the loss of chocoholic micro fibres your mood could ( well, hard to imagine, but let´s just pretend  ) drop and then?
What good would his diet be, if YOU have to suffer ?
Well, we all know how far we get with new year´s resolutions, so I would not worry to much about your nutella
...but I wish your hubby good luck with his diet!

Oh you guys are funny!

Bobbie, hats off to you lady!  I had a knew knee in April.....it was the hardest thing i ever did- but I worked hard at it and finally got to functional 130%.  i was determined I would be able to have full flexion, do yoga and garden and of course be able to get down on the floor and retrieve things from under  the couch....you know arms legs a head or two.....

It was one of the most painful 6 months but i couldn't let my leg loose, could i >  We had to win....i plan on gardening in my 80's  bear_original

Its pointless to go through all that pain and not acieve the most flexion possible......

although i can't do full lotus-  it scares me, I would hate to pop the silly knee and have to go back for a re do!
