I finally did it! I splurged and bought a new computer!!!! I don't fear of it crashing anymore. The one I just took apart I bought in 2000, still ran windows 98, could not be upgraded, locked up on me several times in the past few weeks.

So, I bought this one (paid 9% sales tax on it) got it home, and yesterday after copying all my pictures and important stuff to CDs, printing out my email addresses and copying all my favorite web addresses, I set this one up. I love it. The keyboard is sooooo clean, we'll see how long that lasts    The problem I have is that some how I must have set up my email wrong.....can't connect and get my email through Outlook Express, so I guess I need to do a phone call or something to figure things out.

The screen is so much larger and clearer, I can see so much more on this one. I am really happy with my purchase, hopefully I can figure out my email and all the other little 'quirks' you have when you get a new computer!

Ellen: that is great you got a new computer. I too had problems with e-mail. I just called my internet service which is Comcast and they walked my through the who process to get my e-mail up and running....If it does not work, than insist they pay a house call and have a technician set it up properly.

:clap:  :dance:  :clap:  :dance: Got my 2 email accounts up and running on the new computer. I had to hook up the old computer, go into email and get how that was set up, then do the same on this one......it all now works!!

Well done ellen, but i want to add my two cents about it:
please don't use Outlook Express! It is crap and a highway for hackers to send you lots of viruses.
I guess you work with a PC. The best pair you can use to avoid lots of problems is using the browser firefox and the mail Thunderbird both from Mozilla. They are free and very efficient.
You just need to go on Internet to Mozilla website, download them, install them and set them as your fav ones...
That way you will protect much better all your precious datas.

Ditto what Sophie said.  Mozilla Foxfire is much more secure than using Microsoft Internet Explorer too.  I use Yahoo for my mail, though.  The nice thing about it is that all your mail is stored on their server, not your hard drive and if you change ISP's, you don't ever have to change your email address.  Also, you can get your email from any computer.  Same would go for Thunderbird.  I'll have to check that out, except that I've had my email address with Yahoo for years.
