Comfort food huh? Well I have many. But I adore cookie dough!! I know, not the typical "comfort food". But when stressed I love sweets. I buy it already made in the grocery store and put it in the freezer. When I want a snake, I pull out a square...or two...or three...Love it frozen. Yum.

But for traditional "comfort food". I love pizza. In the winter, beef stew....

Unfortunately ALL food is comfort food to me.  I like baked goods and  chocolate of course but I would be just as happy with a plate of pickles and olives, some cheese and a slice of bread with some really good olive oil!
I find it most comforting when I'm cooking, I love to cook!  It takes my mind off of everything except what I'm doing at that moment.  I would have made a great Itallian Nona (grandmother)!  I would be quite content to stay in the kitchen from morning 'till night making dinner!

I'm gonna stop reading the replies, because they're making me hungry

My favorite comfort foods are cheese of any kind  bear_wub (mum said I should sprout a tail as I loved cheese as much as a mouse bear_tongue ), Peanut butter on a spoon, crunchy or smooth  bear_wub (yes stems from childhood), oooh, and fresh popped popcorn, done in a pan over a gas stove, tossed perfectly, and done with a bit of salt...just in time for Doctor Who or The Wonderful World of Walt Disney   bear_wub  bear_wub Gosh, now I'm feeling nostalgic  bear_wub  bear_wub

This sounds like a subject that I can relate to... bear_tongue
I miss coming home from school on a cold winters day in Colorado, to my mothers homemade chicken soup with dumplings. Nice and warm on your tummy

Yes, Roxanne, I think the foods that take us back to our childhood memories are wonderful, aren't they!

Debbie you are so right, my dad still has his famous popcorn pan and he has said when he leaves this earth I get it,  nothing was a better sound then hearing the grease get hot and that very first POP! After it was all popped he would get a big brown paper gorcery bag and pour in melted butter and some popcorn salt, then one of us kids would fight to get to shake the bag.  Everyone, but me, also like to sprinkle that Kraft powdered cheese over the hot popped corn.  Yum!!!!!!
Man I feel old, but strangely happy bear_rolleyes and a tad hungry

Oh, and I forgot to add fried chicken and fried okra to my comfort list.  Not that I have those things very often (or anything fried, for that matter), but I do love them both.

Sorry, sorta off topic but...
Miss Sue Ann, When you mentioned fried okra it reminded me of a story of my father in-law who is from Oklahoma. He said that his mother made soooo much boiled okra when he was a child, that to this day he cant keep his socks from falling down...!

..hrm...grilled cheese with a sharp dill pickle, peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, strawberry jam with cream cheese on a bagel, and then [and this taste has developed later in live] SUSHI.  I simply ADORE sushi.  Yum yum YUM.

And of course what could be better on movie night than some freshly popped non-microwaved REAL popcorn with loads of melted butter and your own malted shake?  Mmhmm!!
