For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
I was playing around the other evening and typed my name onto the ebay site and came up with this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Artist-Bear-patte … y-gabby-31-
This sperson mentioned below has taken the pattern from the book which was produced, obviously photocopied the pattern and is NOW SELLING IT FOR 3.99 sterling on EBAY
Firstly it is FRAUD as all the patterns in this book first have to have permission from the authors before anything can be done with them. It seems like they have taken all the patterns from this book and are selling them all off one by one, so easy way to make money, what a FRAUDSTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not even an original FRAUDSTER
I contacted the authors who have written to this person- but BEWARE - and check that any of your own patterns that might have been published are not been sold off in this way.

Oh that's awful! the good news is... it looks like the letter from the publisher did the trick. It appears that she is no longer listing the copied pattern for sale on eBay. She seems to have removed the other artist bear patterns as well.
Hopefully this is one of those situations where the seller hadn't really thought about the fact that doing this would be wrong, but now realizes that it is truly a bad thing to do.
Glad to see that the outcome has been favorable !

I love it when people get caught!
I am bummed somebody ripped you off though. I know what that feels like. I designed a logo for a lady and was emailing her proofs (she was a friend of a friend so I thought what harm could it do, duh). When she asked me to do a whole other set of proofs (after the seven I already did for her) I told her there would be an additional charge. She came unglued. She STOLE my proofs, put MY logo on her signs, business cards, forms and magnet on her car. She didn't pay me a dime.
Jen,
That STINKS!! Jeez, what would your friend say to you at that point..what a bad spot that other woman put her in as well. Never fear though that old saying "what goes around comes around" is very very true. It might take a day, a month, a year or a decade but the universe has a way of evening itself out with little help from us. Do good...you get good. Do bad...and it will smack you right back.
I guess watermarking or putting text over our work is the best way to protect from these kinds of people.

wow, that's awful. People are selling all kinds of patterns that they shouldn't on ebay. Its' just not fair.
Lynette,
I'm so glad you found this shady seller and his auctions were yanked from ebay! It's interesting what you can find on ebay, when you search for your own name - well done!
hugs,
Brenda
Good on you Lynnette for catching them out.
All these fraudsters are ripe in ebay. I haven't listed for awhile, I just got so sick of them.
Well done Lynnette for being on the ball
Man that is really rotten, good job on helping to clean up ebay. It's so nice it ended well
There really does need to be ebay cops we can report these crimes to, I am not saying some tech that gets all kind of complaints, but real cops that can issue tickets and a stern warning , outside ebay legal action, something to stop these guys.
One time I typed my name in google, and it popped up with a listing on ebay that I hadn't done and when I went to it , it was a bear I had made when I first started out, it was a horrible picture of a very early not so well made bear I had done, OMG it looked dreadful , I cringed when I saw it , in my opinion that should be illegal too.
Lynette, this is disgusting!
Jennifer & Lynette, you don´t need to be mad or sad or disappointed; people who do things like that, do get what they deserve. Life has it´s own way of justice.
