:bday:   Happy Fasnacht Day, Paczki Day, Doughnut Day, Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day), Fat Tuesday (did I miss any of the names for??)  :bday:

Happy day to you!!  An entire day that says "GO EAT DOUGHNUTS (or PANCAKES)....NOW!"

So happy eating to all who love doughnuts, pancakes and other goodies!

It's funny because in the comfort food thread folks were talking about lemon and sugar on "pancakes" and I thought huh, that's what I like on crepes......SAME THING, different names for!  bear_laugh
To me "pancakes" are these thick bready things, the light and airy ones called crepes.  YUM! Now I want a crepe/pancake too!!

HAPPY DAY OF EATING  bear_grin

These are the first doughnuts I've had in 3 years and they are FANTASTIC!! They do taste like a doughnut!  My sister got me a pack for Christmas and I'm so happy to be having one right now!   They're specially vacuum packaged for a decent shelf life and freeze well too!

 HAPPY DOUGHNUT & PANCAKE DAY!!

doodlebears Celebration Ambassador

Every year as a child I would go with my family to Olney a short distance from my home to watch the 'Pancake Race' here is information about the race
Shrove Tuesday is celebrated in Olney England like nowhere else on earth! Traditional declares that the race was first run in the year 1445, pancakes at that time being a popular dish and receiving the royal favour. Townsfolk gather to see the original and unique Olney Pancake Race which is now world famous. Traffic stops while the competitors make their 415 yard dash from the Bull Hotel (old coaching Inn) to the Parish Church of St.Peter & St. Paul. Warning bells are rung from the Church steeple and the race is started by the Churchwarden at 11.55 am, using the large bronze 'Pancake Bell' normally on display in the Museum. Pancakes are tossed at the start and the winner is required to toss her pancake again at the finish.
