Tracy: The news said we are getting another storm at the end of the week. I imagine Iowa may get it too. Any news from your neck of the woods?
Kim: Florida sounds nice right now. I like tracy want to reserve room in your truck....
Hi Michelle,
Yep, we're supposed to get another round Tues night into Thursday (unless that's changed now too.....hard to keep up on it, the weather man changes things so often ). They are saying it will be similiar to what we had this weekend. Oh goody!!!
Guess I'll be stuck at home again, but I really don't mind that part too much.
I think we should just take over Kim's trunk.........they will have to leave their luggage behind though!
When we used to have a well we had a generator for just that , can't water the horses if you don't run the well.
It snowed all day here on Sunday, Saturday was clear. We are getting a little snow now, supposed to get more tonight and then tomorrow. My daughters were hoping that it would keep snowing all night sunday so they could have asnow day today.
No such luck.
More snow forecasted all week.

Tracy: The news folks here are saying the same thing, it will be like the one we just had. The sad thing is I'm working. Can't stay home on this one.....I think you have a point with Kim truck...
Michelle, is it snowing there yet? I really feel for you having to go out in it .........stay safe!!
We are in a blizzard watch. High winds and 6-12 inches of snow are forecast from tonight through friday morning. Right now it's blowing hard and blowing snow over the roads again.....and making for slick driving conditions. I just heard on the radio the kids are out 2 hours early this afternoon. I'm betting they won't have school the rest of the week now.........and I know they will be sooooo heart broken (ya....right!!
)!!!
Tracy: They are predicting 13-21 inches of snow....Thursday will be the worst of it but it will start tonight and go on into Friday. Blizzard conditions are posted. But the irony of this, at this writing, it is clear as a bell out there...One would never know we have a miserable strom on our doorstep...
Stay safe and warm....
Tracy: They are predicting 13-21 inches of snow....
That's a lot of snow! You did say you have an SUV, right? Be careful Michelle!
We are now in a blizzard warning......and it's still not snowing. We are getting some light freezing rain though. Just enough to make driving treacherous. The snow is supposed to start overnight tonight. Boy, I'll be so happy to see Spring!!
I haven't looked at the forecast, but it is snowing here!
Amy
Ok so who's idea was it to send YOUR storm up to Canada eh? We're supposed to get hit with the same system briging mostly freezing rain late Tursday to the end of the weekend!
I wish I had a giat fan to blow it all out over the ocean really quickly, then none of us would have to drive in it. For those of you who do please be careful!
Hugs,
AndreaM
Amy, I'm not sure what Wisconsin is supposed to get, but I'll bet you've got a good amount of snow on the way!
Ok so who's idea was it to send YOUR storm up to Canada eh?
   Andrea, this is pay back for all that c-c-c-cold Canadian air we were blessed with last month!
It's snowing to beat the band here now........snowing sideways actually, with the wind added in. I'm so glad we are all home and staying here! Everyone stay safe!!!
This morning it wasn’t too bad. About three inches on the ground. I took some pictures. This is the calm before the storm. So above is the before. I’ll post an after picture when I get home….
Andrea: really, what is a little blizzard amongst friends? “Share and share alike” I think the saying goes. But yes it is being called “The Big One” here in Minnesota. The weather guy said on a scale of 1-5 it will be a six! I do have to be at work this afternoon since we are 24/7 but my boss will be putting us up in a hotel across the street after our shifts.
Tracy: we are under blizzard warnings too….12-18 inches predicted. But last night I decided to drive home about midnight. It was icy and slushy and I drove about 30 miles an hour. Interestingly, the cars behind me just stayed there. Only one or two hot shots that decided to pass me…When I got behind a slow person, driving 20 miles an hour, I felt relief and stayed right behind him…..
Amy check your forecast….you may be getting something….
Now that is a pretty photo Michelle! It will be interesting to see the after photo as well.
Good thing your company puts you up in a hotel like that. That's awesome!! My dad scared the stuffing out of us today. He had to go in to work this morning.....leaves at 2am to go 30 miles to work from where he drives truck for a local distributing company. The trucks were called back in at close to noon, but it was so bad out by then travel was being heavily discouraged. Then, Mom and I thought he would stay in a hotel there (with his sister as she works at the same place), but he decided to drive home instead!!
His sister rode with him and left her car at work. We were so worried.....just sick with it! Thankfully, he made it home okay.....took over an hour to make the drive. I am so relieved they are both safe!
Our forecast has been changed to add more snow to the total.........anywhere up to 16 inches now!!
We haven't had a storm like this since 2000. Um, I think I was okay with that!
Some of the highways and interstates have actually been closed down!! Guess it's a fair assumption there will be no school tomorrow either. Won't my boys be happy!
And Dad's work place is shut down for tomorrow as well, so we won't be worrying about that......thank goodness!
Here's the map of Iowa road conditions with our house location marked in green. The red roads means travel not advised. The red symbols with the white line are closed roads. Lovely day out there today!!
Hi All,
We're forecasted for 2 feet tonight and tomorrow. We live in the 'higher elevations' and next to a lake so we always get more than predicted. I can't wait!!!! This will be the last storm I get excited about for the season. Aftef this I'm ready for it to melt and dry out fast. I hate mud season... with two light colored furry dogs it's miserable!
Today was sunny and in the upper 30s...... 58 in the sun..... if I closed my eyes I could just FEEL spring and smell the new growth and hear the birdies sing.
Speaking of birdies.... be sure you all feed them.... they are getting ready to think about mating.... we want them strong and healthy! Tough to find food with all this snow!
Stay warm and safe!
Hi,
We got 3-4 inches. Just to snarl up the traffic on the way to work. Followed by rain all afternoon. Looks like we are in for more of the same tomorrow....yuck. All the pretty snow has fallen off the trees.
Amy
Daphne wrote: Speaking of birdies.... be sure you all feed them
Oh Daphne: I filled up all the bird feeders before the snow. I even put out extra corn for the squirrels and rabbits. But to get two feet of snow!!! My I hop you don't need to leave your house anytime soon. And...I too look forward to spring.
Tracy: hwy 35 is a mess up here too. The forecast is now 12-20 inches of snow. I work for a great company. They do take good care of its employees. In total there is about 20 plus people staying across the road in the hotel this evening at the company's expense. The blizzard like winds will be starting shortly. Also I'm glad you dad is o.k. it can be scary can't it.
Amy: count yourself lucky with only 3-4 inches. Though traffic can be a mess. Take care to drive safely.
Well it's oficcially here in Ontario too, it started around 5pm. Not soon enough for me co cancell my classes and stay home and just in time tomake my drive home a very long and stressful one!
I left my studio at 9:50pm and arrived home at 10:00pm......it's normally a 10 minute drive! I had to drive slowly because the back end of the car kept wanting to slide out from behind me.......I hate winter
Hope everyone is safe and at hme!
Hugs,
AndreaM
Well we had a big storm. I think in total I got about 13-16 inches of snow. some places got 20 inches. This was big even for Minnesota. I did stay at a hotel Thusday night curtosy of my company. It was blizzard conditions at time. So above are pictures of what I came home to. By the way, my little SUV did plow through at least 13 inches of snow without hesitation. I did not have to dig my way into the garage. Thank goodness...I'm not a snow digging sort of girl....
OOOO Tracy heres sending you lotsa of warm hugs     Off to bed early with a nice hot drink and snuggle down that what id do
Thanks Lanie!!  We are stuck good......no going anywhere now until heavy equipment can get in here. That's if we can find someone. Our neighbor was over with his tractor, and the snow is even more than he can handle.
Michelle--Love the pics! Glad you were able to get over the snow in your SUV........I'm not much for shoveling either!
We got the same amount of snow as you did....16 inches or so. And combined with the high winds of 40-50 mph (blizzard conditions for a good 48 hours or more) there are some unbelievable snowdrifts. Most highways in the western half of our state are still closed as the drifts are too large for even the plows to get through. They will have to bring in loaders and move the snow somewhere else for those spots. I think it will take awhile for Iowa to dig out from this one!! I have taken lots of pictures of the snow around our house. Will post them in another thread as there as so many.
Hi Tracy and Michelle and any others who are stuck right in the snow storm,
The snow looks so pretty but must be awfully cold and thanks for sharing your photos.
Thinking of you and hoping that you stay safe and warm and the snow will go away soon.
Hugs
Carolyn
Wow ! Are you guys buried? We just had two nasty rain storms. Now it is cold and the wind is howling something fierce!
Tracy: I heard the National Guard was called in to help here in MN. I think they helped clear the streets. I have to say by friday most of the main roads were clear enough to drive but most people stayed off the road. All government and schools were closed. But please post your pictures. I can't wait to see them....
Carolyn: Yes the snow is beautiful I just love it. My backyard is glorious. One tiny problem though, the snow is piled so high on my porch, I can't get the door open to refill my bird feeders!!! But the temps are suppose to be higher this week and maybe it will be enough to melt the snow so I can go out to refill them. Luckily I fill them all to to the top before the storm and there is some left at this writing.
its been two weeks since the big storm in V t and we/ve still to see the edges of our driveway! we had three days of 36 degrees and sun soi now we have moved on to melting all too slowly and leaking! ( roof) my dh and i liked to killed ourseves yesterday trying to shovel off the porch roof//too heavy and too wet,,those snow rakes are great if youre godzilla! stay safe those of you still in the storm paths! deb
Michelle, I don't believe the National Guard was called on here this time. They were with the previous storm and all the people without power though. I just heard on the news tonight that there are still about 5,000 people without power. It's been quite awhile for those folks. I really feel for them!
Deb, it sounds like you have had your own major headaches due to snow!  Be careful dragging that snow down from the roof! We actually had some melting today too, but not much. By the end of the week it is supposed to be in the 40's, so maybe we'll see the snow piles shrink a good amount.
