My mother and I were talking about getting my father's teddy bear restored for his Birthday in August (#78!!) and was wondering if ya'll could point me in the right direction of a "restorer". We think it's going to be too expensive, but thought we'd look into it.
He may be too far gone to fix up "right", especially since he's missing a leg.
Here's a pic of him just for giggles!! The card that is falling apart was written by my grandmother and says that my father's grandmother bought him this bear in 1929!
We have no idea the maker or anything else about him, but he is mohair.
NO, that's not a mostache... that used to be his smile, it's just flying out to the sides now.
Hi,
I just bougth a book called Restoring Teddy Bears & Stuffed Animals by Christel & Rolf Pistorius. It seems like a really comprehensive how-to book. Why don't you look for it & try doing it yourself?
Amy
I checked out that book on amazon... it sounds great!! I want it whether or not I do this myself.
But I'd be scared to do it myself, I haven't worked with mohair, YET... and the bear seems so fragile.
