Teddy1.jpgThese images were sent to one of the fiber lists I'm on: does anyone have any information on this bear I could pass along to the gentleman & his wife?

Bobbie, it looks like an old stick bear to me.

Do you think so? I wonder if they could Xray him!
I thought the leg joints would've been larger/wider for that type. The straight skinny arms would fit the type but I wasn't sure about the legs, and I sure haven't studied vintage work enough to even hazard a guess.
Thx

You could be right, SueAnn!

This one hasn't a lick of mohair on him - which always makes me suspicious that he was of recent making and 'aged'.
Everything about him could certainly have been replicated to look old. Were they ever made of plain fabric? No nap 'mohair'?

Wow.  I have no idea as to the maker but he/she sure looks like he/she has had a lot of love.  How about submitting the photos to TB and F. bear_thumb

If you scroll down to the bottom of that page, this seller has another stick bear on auction that has most of its mohair.  The backing on the second bear looks like the fabric of the first one.  Maybe every speck of hair is gone on that first one.  Looks like he had a growler, too.  Very interesting!

I found these photos of a stick bear in Pauline Cockrill's Teddy Bear Encyclopedia.

A month ago this was posted in an eBay forum. The more I look the more of interest I find. And I was supposed to be working tonight!!!
