Settler Bears are Limited Edition bears designed by a company in Australia. Apparently they've been around for a while but are new to the US. I'm seeing lots of them on eBay under "Artist Bears" but do know they are made in China.

I had the US Rep for this company contact me (no, they don't want me to design for them or anything like that). Curiosity has me wanting to know more about them. He gave me some info, the eBay listings provide more info which is a bit deceiving compared to what this rep told me. So I thought I'd ask you all for your opinion on  these bears.

Are they an in demand item in Australia?
What is the quality like?
Are they easy to find?
How are they priced?
Is there another manufactured bear company out there that these compare to?

Feel free to PM me of you'd rather.

I appreciate your help!

Hugs,
Daphne

Daphne when I worked in Teddy's Cottage, Settler Bears were very much in demand. They were well made and very cute, alot of them came dressed. They were by far the top selling bear as they were very reasonably priced.  I really don't know what the demand for them now is as I haven't been in retail for a few years. I think that they were artist designed if I remember rightly.

Well as a little Canadian Hick Chick, I must say I have heard of them. But other than having heard the name I am no help to you Daph! But having heard a name before can be good right?

I have a wonderful Settler Bear that I bought at the lemonade bears benefit last year. They are manufactured plush bears with lots of detail and expression.  I love mine to bits.

well i just popped in to my local country craft type shop...she stocks bears as well as raggy dolls and such...but the items that drew my attention where the settler bears...every bear i spotted that i liked, i looked at the lable and everyone was a settler bear...i cant say about their demand nor do i know enough about manufactured bears to judge on workmanship properly(they certainly seemed to be quality to me)i do know what i like and im quite in love with these bears....my heart is pineing for one little girl in particular and at $45 au, i felt she was very resonably priced and i think i know that i'll be back to get her when funds allow in the new financial month, im crossing my fingers that noone else gets her first... bear_grin Maybe i should of hid her under the shelf bear_tongue

as to your question about price...i saw some small ones at $35 and a huge georgous dressed girl with the most beautiful shawl(bigger than my 2 y.o son) for $270 but the average price seemed to be around $45...........i did pick up one other bear that i liked the look of and it did actually look ike a settler bear but it wasnt ...i cant remember what company it was now....but the resembalance was fairly close.

I believe there is a Settler's bear in the TBF Toby manufactured bear section...have you all voted? I don't have the magazine in front of me but I'm pretty sure it was a Settler.
