Really, this is your first? Wow. I like him. Is it synthetic or real fur? The pictures are a bit blurry so you may want to work on that. I love his sweet impression with the whites under the eyes and the little glass nose. The eyes don't look loose, but well set into the fur. Well done.
By the way, we usually show our bears in another forum called Showcase.

You have done a brilliant job with him.  The eye placement is great, and I love the fur you have used.  My first bear didn't even look like a bear!!!!!

Thanks, it is faux fur, it quite nice and has a stripe effect, I do agree with you on the photo front, I have a problem taking close-ups, I think my camera needs upgrading, its just a basic one so if anyone has the name and model of a good cheap one that would be great.
I have to admit that he sat on the coffee table for about a week with no face before I could pluck up the courage to try, glass noses are ace, I am a disaster with the thread.
I am trying a traditional shaped bear now (having a go at standing up!!) and as soon as she is finished I will add to the showcase, I find this area contains what I aspire to (uoh! bad english) and did not feel he was good enough for the SHOWCASE

Well done!  And if this is your beary first what's next?  We shall be expecting great things from you!

If you do upgrade your camera make sure you get one that lets you take super closeups-it will pay off later on down the road when you start wanting to show special detail work you have done.

And the preview of your next creation is when?

Sue,  he is a very nice looking bear, and for a first attempt this makes him even better.  You have nice eye placement and expression.  Good job.

Great job Sue!  Sure doesn't look like a first bear...

Know what you mean by a "one off"... and you know..that feeling almost never goes away for me...   When I began making doll faces...I wondered if I would be able to make another just as nice...and even still...each time I begin to draw a face.. will I be able to get a nice one?  Silly ..but true....

Judi -thank you for your comments, your bears are just wonderful

Veronica- Maybe that what makes an artist having that feeling every time gives you the edge to try harder

Your first bear looks really great!! If you hadn't said I would never have know that it was your first. I love how you have done the eyes, he has a really sweet expression.

Does he have a name yet?  bear_original

Thanks Lisa, I have been so encouraged that this afternoon, I have hand sewn 2 legs and a body, and am heading for the arms right now. I had not realised that talking to you guys would make me so much more productive,
