Thanks Jane.
If yes, you do have a wheel, I would hold it against the bears one at a time under the same lighting as you are likely to have at hugglets, and see which looks good with most of them.

Thanks Dillykins, did I ever tell you your a lovely lady!
Hugs Jane.
Jan I have been thinking about changing mine as well. I think that the photo in your avitar shows your bears and monkeys look lovely on blue.
What about that fake grassy stuff so that they could be playing or something? Just a thought and something I always fancied doing, but I don't know how the lighting would affect the overall colours - bet you'll come up with something beautifully artistic whatever -
Hugs again - Margaret
That is a tough choice. I guess is does depend on the color of the bears, but as Tami said that blue works nicely in your avatar. Just remember to hcave fun Jane and not stress over it too much.
My only advice would be to make sure its your BEARS that people see. I used to be a professional windowdresser and it is a pet peeve of mine when people load up so much stuff on their table that you don't know what it is that they're trying to sell. If your bears are mostly neutrals like beige or brown, I would go with a strong colour like the blue, but if you do a lot of pastels or strong colours, I would go with black or a neutral shade. I used burlap sacking and all my signage is black on white but it can look quite striking and the bears are the focus.
Best of luck and be sure to post a :photo:

Jane I have a burgundy crushed velvet which I use when I have tradional coloured bears, but I do have a neutral burlap sacking that I use when I have alot of coloured bears. I am happy to know that I am doing the right thing myself, I was happy to read Cheryl's post I like the sacking as I put pine cones, gum nuts and autumn coloured potpourri around the table and it does look effective. Good luck and I am sure you will find the right colour for your bears.
The few shows I have participated in I used good old burlap, and old type wooden cheese boxes. The boxes gave some differents heights to the table. I then sprinkled chunky potpourri sparingly over the table. Worked well for me and the bears...
Jane,
I´d use the complementary colour to the majority of bears...but.... what is the complementary colour to brown? Maybe some sort of green....
I had fake grass on my table, like Margaret mentioned, and I was very happy with it, because it is not shiny. Somehow I have the idea, shiny stuff would distract from the bears..
The blue in your avatar also looks great.
And as mentioned: :photo: :photo: :photo:

I think it mostly would depend on what you're selling, and how you're arranging what you're selling. I'd be sure to have some contrast between my bears and my table covering if they're sitting directly on the table, otherwise they'll get lost. Likewise, I'd be sure to have some contrast between my bears and their display stands; for that same reason.
I tried a new setup at my last show with my bears (which tend to be neutral colored) on wooden crates and they didn't stand out as much, to my eye, as when I used to use stark black plant stands to display them. So I think I'll return to that display next time.
There are some artists who make gorgeous, neutral colored bears, and then showcase them against beautiful foresty or woodsy backdrops. The arrangement is gloriously pretty but I'm not sure it highlights their work as much as their talent for staging.
Everyone who said so has my vote, too: Be sure your bears are the focus! And maybe equally important, maybe try to get them OFF the table as a priority, and bring them closer to eye level.
I'll love to see what you come up with. Your work is superb so I'm sure however you display it, you'll have great success.
Have fun!
